Valentino's family never had much money growing up, only scraping enough to get by. Valentino had to work quite young and didn't enjoy labour very much. All he desired was to move on from his position and be able to live at least comfortably. Still, Valentino worked to keep himself and his family alive.

Valentino often returned late from his work, having to travel down the dingy alleys to return home. It was in one of these alleys he met a shady stranger, red eyes glowing in the dark. The stranger promised Valentino that if he accepted his deal, he could forget about poverty, all he needed to do in return was help him with his work.
Valentino questioned more, not about to accept a vague deal from a stranger. The figure announced himself as a god of lust and that he needed more souls for his own power. He promised Valentino that everything would get better if he would work under him, making him into his favourite. Reluctantly, Valentino accepted the deal, a heart-shaped mark on his tail and a glowing tattoo-like mark on his shoulder appearing on his body.

Under the training and favouritism of the god, Valentino became powerful, able to easily induce lust into other beings, tempting them into sin. When they fully give into lust, a heart shaped mark appears somewhere on their body. Valentino is able to control the minds of beings with these marks, borrowing the powers and influence of the lust god.
Whilst Valentino is immensely grateful of the god for helping his situation, he does fear the fall and wrath that may come if he ever slips out of his favour or does not adequately perform. He is intimidated by the lust god and fears his presence.
