He has forgotten his name over years of a curse so he was given the name Banyan based on the tree growing from his body.
He was given his plant magic from a god to defend himself from being murdered but he took it too far and killed his attackers. As a result the same god cursed him so every time he uses his magic for a bad reason a tree grows out of his body. The tree is always there from when he initally was cursed but it gets bigger each time he uses his powers with hatred. If he just uses them for nice things it doesn't change the tree. This made him even more angry so he hides away from people and is a huge dick. He will one day find someone who can understand why he is a dick (he has a tree growing out of him) and befriends him despite that. Then when he falls in love he will go to the god and apologize getting his curse reversed. Well not reversed he will still have the ponochio effect (I can't spell that) where it will grow if he uses it badly BUT he will not have the tree anymore. It comes out of his peck like it is growing from his heart and climbs up his shoulder neck and face. Growing into/out of them as well but the roots wrap around his heart.
