DESIGN

  • Hart needs to look as soft as possible, this is mostly done with his sweater and hair, which are also the lightest things on him color-wise.
  • While gold is an occasional accent color, it's more like a guest in Hart's design than a built-in piece. An optional addition if the shades of brown aren't cutting it. Pink, while his eye color, is not an accent color in his design.
  • In the winter, he grows a beard. He spends the whole season growing it and shaves it on the first of spring.

TRIVIA

  • Did not have any family relation tying him to the valley before he showed up. He doesn't want to see any of them either.
  • Hart is a lycanthrope! Werewolf boy! He refuses to accept it, though, it's part of the reason he doesn't want magic to be a real thing, too.
  • The only thing he will stand his ground about: Hart refuses that magic could possibly exist. He considers mermaids and Junimos to not count as magic.
  • Accidentally bought 1800 gold worth of pizzas trying to get Lewis a gift for his birthday.
  • Anxious to a point of detriment, Hart's primary fear responses to encounering other people is either flight or fawn. He does not know how to disengage from an uncomfortable situation, either,

PERSONALITY

Hart is a chipper but shy farmer who would do just about anything to keep to himself. He rarely starts conversations with people, and dislikes being around both aggresive and cheerful people with the same level of intensity. As a result, he winds up avoiding everyone, not appearing in town for almost the whole of the winter season. When stuck in a conversation, he attempts to steer it solely into smalltalk and refuses to let it get any deeper as passively as possible. A complete pushover, the only time he ever actually expresses his opinion is whenever magic is brought up, as he is adament it does not exist.

PAST

TIME WITH JOJA

Not having many options, Hart took the first job he could safely get his hands on.. This led to him being employed in Joja's call centers, where he would primarily recieve calls from frusterated people spewing vitriol. Hart never grew a backbone, and could never bring himself to hang up or transfer the call to someone who may be able to handle the siutation better. Because he stuck out all of these horrific situations, it started becoming commonplace on his floor to transfer difficult cases to Hart, with everyone on the floor thinking he was sticking it out because he could handle it. They'd cheerfully thank him, call him a lifesaver, say they owe him, and then turn away and leave him to their problem.

After a year or so of handling these calls almost daily, as well as developing a panic disorder and losing hair, Hart had a breakdown at work and was gently "let go" for it. He knew it was coming, he could see it in the way his coworkers looked at him after the incident. Their fake smiles were formerly tolerable, but Hart could tell now that under them was disgust. He grew to resent his friendly coworkers just as much as the vitriolic beasts on the other side of the phone. How quickly they would turn their back on him after knowing full well what they put him through.

Hart took the first chance he got and his remaining cash to move out to the middle of nowhere, as far away from as many people as possible. On the outskirts of a small village called Pelican Town.

CHIMERA RANCH

The dilapidated off-the-grid farm already existed down the hill past Pelican Town, and Hart did not do much to freshen it up at first. He didn't quite realize that it was completely allowed for him to completely skirt society as soon as he had the resources, so he spent his first season or two attempting to socialize with the townspeople. This attempt at socialization continued well into the winter, despite the effort of climbing the mountain being much more strenuous.

The head of Harm Farm at the time, an older man Hart had met a couple of times, found Hart unconcious in the middle of his farm early one morning, and was nice enough to take him inside and check him over for any injuries. Thankfully, Hart was just exhausted. The two chatted some after Hart woke up, and the old man wound up being the one to express to Hart that if he was so uncomfortable interacting with people, he could just... not. His farm was isolated, but very self-reliable. If Hart planned in advance, he could greatly minimize his appearances in town.

Hart was later embarrassed it took him over a year to realize the older man had passed away and his grandson had taken over duties on the farm.

Hello, fellow hermit! Hart feels a special kinship with Linus as just about the only other person who somewhat understands how he feels. He always makes sure Linus is set for the winter before essentially going into hibernation.
