Lore

Astra and Lunara are the product of the star Astalus 01’s death. The stardust of that supernova spawned two unique eggs that landed on an isolated comet drifting far into the depths of space. These eggs soon hatched, and the two were given the power to create life from stardust on comets. They spent 3 billion years apart creating the first generation of Comet Dividers and returned to a new planet near their comet. They named this planet Astalus 02 and built the first civilization of Comet Dividers where they are now worshipped.

Astra's Personality

"The Sun grants an illumination of wisdom"

Astra is very stoic and keeps a reserved tone in his ruling. He is incredibly resolute in his beliefs and always addresses problems within his community from a place of hard logic. However, his demeanor can show himself as being too critical of others and generally distrusting during meetings. Though strong, he would never use his power to harm others and prefers to isolate himself when feeling upset by his surroundings. He bears a heavy weight of responsibility from his many years of experience and just as much knowledge.

Lunara's Personality

"...and the Moon the radiance of affinity."

Lunara is rather mindful and nuturing to the point of being remarked as a motherly figure for the species. She understands the full spectrum of her people's views from her experiences and does her best to see the best in every individual. A part of these mannerisms stem from her ties to darkness and the darker conscious of her people; she desires that they stay pure and thus bears her burdens of the world's knowledge alone. Some worry she is too generous and overwhelmed by her role.

Important Dates

Festival of Asterius

This is an Earth-month-long festival made to celebrate Astra. Conforming still to Earth time, it takes place around the Summer Solstice. Many shops are opened and a large parade is held at the capital of Astalus 02. Elaborate performances including dances and acrobatics are available to witness at many centers of entertainment, and supporters are encouraged to dance, sing, and generally be more convivial. Bonfires and candles are also lit, and nightly feasts are often eaten at gatherings. Away from the hub, Comet Dividers may celebrate by lighting candles, making a feast, or lighting a bonfire with close friends.

Night of Lunyx

This is an Earth-month-long festival made to celebrate Lunara. Contrary to the Festival of Asterius, the festivities of this celebration take place primarily in the dead of night. In Earth time, it takes place around the Winter Solstice. During the event, participants are encouraged to sing songs, dress up in elaborate costumes, and share homemade sweets and presents. Candles are lit among the streets, and a generally quiet and eerie vibe is withheld to preserve the nighttime atmosphere. At home, Comet Dividers celebrate by throwing sleepovers with friends, giving gifts, and baking treats.

Meteor Showers

Meteor showers are regarded as a very special event by many Comet Dividers. This is because meteor showers make it easy to witness comets falling through the sky and new Comet Dividers being born. Commonly, Comet Dividers within viewing range of a meteor shower will light fireworks in celebration of a new generation. At the Temple, Astra and Lunara document all of the comets and light a candle if there is a birth.
