However, one winter night tragedy occurred. In a small cabin somewhat away from the town and closer to the forest, a young woman named Anastasia went into labor. Her husband and the town midwife helped her during her complicated birth, but when the newborn emerged from the shadows, they were stunned. The girl’s eyes were the same bright blue as the creature’s and her scream pierced the air in that silence formed in that cabin.

The little girl’s first year was certainly not easy compared to the rest of the children in the village, after all, both Anastasia and her husband were afraid to go out too often since every time they saw Ekaterina people had different opinions and reactions, some were scared, and others looked at her as if she were a gift from God.
