Aelius is the next successor in the Sun dynasty, though has never expressed interest in inheriting control over the shining star. While the rest of the galaxy is free to roam and decide their own fates, Aelius' has always been influenced by his corrupt mother. He doesn't know who he really is; what he enjoys, what he wants to be... but desperately wishes to learn.

After becoming of age (in light years, anyways) to make his own decisions and roam the kingdom, he left the star entirely, making his escape to Sunridge for a new life where he can decide his path and fate. And, y'know... get to actually be a teenage boy, emo phase and all.
