Before Briarkit was born, her parent, Prophet, lived beyond the Rogue Shroud with a group of cats. including Lillian and Sheriff. They formed a close-knit group and lived peacefully for many moons. When the group found themselves expecting kits, the trio vowed to support each other and raise the kits together.
However, their plans were shattered when Sheriff died in a tragic hunting accident, and Lillian's health declined rapidly. Suddenly left to care for the newborn kits on their own, Prophet struggled to find enough food and couldn't produce enough milk to sustain them.
Desperate and with few options left, Prophet decided to return to the clan territories, specifically seeking out Cloudclan in hopes of finding their old friend Cirrusflight, who they knew from their time as an herbalist. A border patrol led by Redsnare discovered Prophet and the kits, bringing them back to the Cloudclan camp. There, Cheetahstar allowed Prophet to stay until the kits reached apprentice age, and that a permanent decision would be made based upon their actions during that time.
Briarkit, young as she was, didn't understand what any of that meant. All she knew was she had a comfortable nest to sleep in with her parent and littermates. Though she did occasionally hear whispers about a she-cat that recently joined the nursery, Bristlefur, and how she was untrustworthy. Though there was a new litter to the nursery, when Flamekit and Breezekit were born to Lightninghound. The next moon, Bristlefur gave birth to Frondkit, Needlekit, and Leafletkit, and one week later Bugcatcher had her own litter: Squeakkit, Squawkkit, Tumblekit, Bumblekit, Hootkit, and Howlkit. Wow. There;s so many kits in the nursery to play with!
