Gabriel

Gabriel is the closest thing Ava has to family; both were surrendered to their commune as infants, as their parents couldn’t take care of them, so they were raised as brother and sister. Gabriel is older by a few years and was fiercely protective of his little sister. They did everything together when they were younger, and even when they got old enough to go to school, Gabriel still made sure to keep an eye on Ava, with the help of his partner Pokemon, Eclipse. Gabriel is a bit of a hothead, but much of his anger is directed towards those he sees mistreating others. Among their commune, Gabriel was seen as someone to look up to, as he was always ready to help others, regardless of his own circumstances. Unfortunately, things began to go downhill after Eclipse was killed in battle. Gabriel was given time to mourn, but others pushed him to return to his former duties with the same zeal he previously had–and when he wasn’t able to do that, he was looked down upon and excluded from many parts of commune life he had previously depended on. In his anger over this injustice, Gabriel turned his ire towards the one he felt was responsible for Eclipse’s death–Arceus, who is the one who sent them to battle a dangerous legendary in the first place. He challenged Arceus directly, using his transformation powers to try and defeat the god–but he failed, and was struck down. While the other members of his community now remember him as a traitor, Ava mourns him–she still remembers the brother who practically raised her.
