Tyler

Tyler was another member of the Arceus-worshiping commune Ava and Gabriel belonged to! He hung out with both of them when they were all kids, and he had a massive crush on Ava. When they were all teenagers, though, an extremely powerful legendary attacked Ava, Gabriel, and Tyler when they were alone, with no way to defend themselves. Tyler volunteered to go with the legendary in exchange for the lives of his friends; he thought he would be able to resist the legendary’s powers, since he had trained for his entire life to be loyal to Arceus. So anyways that didn’t work and Tyler turned against everyone he’d ever known. He listened to the legendary’s promises of power and safety, and became convinced that the only way to prevent the world’s destruction at the hands of Arceus was to wipe out all of Arceus’s worshipers. The legendary was using its poison to manipulate Tyler’s thoughts, and he ended up hurting a lot of his former friends. After Ava managed to seal away the legendary for good, its hold on Tyler vanished. Now free from its control, Ava was hopeful that Tyler would apologize and return to his old self–but it quickly became clear that the legendary had less influence over Tyler than Ava had believed. Even without its influence clouding his thoughts, Tyler still believed that Arceus and the commune as a whole were toxic, and he rejected their teachings. Tyler refused any responsibility for what he had done and claimed it was Ava’s fault for allowing him to be captured in the first place. They fought, and Tyler was stripped of Arceus’s blessing, and he lost both his transformation abilities and his ability to talk to Pokemon. Overcome with anger, Tyler fled, and for a while he lived in isolation. He eventually decided that Ava probably wasn’t angry anymore, and would be friends with him again. Much to his surprise, when he showed up unannounced at Ava’s home, having been absent from her life for years, with a Pokemon she did not ask for of questionable origins, she was pissed. Tyler still refused to apologize for his part in the legendary’s destruction, so Ava rejected him completely.
