NOT AN OPEN SPECIES

draconis pteranis “common dragon”

- Typical specimens are long and lithe with flexible joints
- Bones are hollow and very fragile to allow for flight
- Chests contain two “flight sacks” which fill with methane gas that the dragons use to aid in flight. The flight sacks are fireproof, allowing draconis pteranis the miraculous ability to light the gas within them on fire, giving them lift. Think hot air balloon. These flight sacks are often harvested illegally and sold on the black market
- inner wing membrane attaches to the rear leg
- the wing membranes are very thick and rigid, some even growing scales on the tips
