Background:

The sole survivor of her family's car crash when she was 12, Cara went on to develop an intense interest in nature and conservation when adopted by family friend Stephen Yellow Horse, who owns an extensive ranch. Through a long and difficult adolescence where she battled to navigate her trauma and mental illness, Cara also entrenched herself in environmental studies and her community's culture to connect with herself and the world around her, as well as her many friends and hobbies. She then enrolled in a community college with hopes to become a National Park Ranger, where she fell hard and fast for a blind sapphic Wicca named Jane.

Fun fact: I created Cara as the kind of RPG character I could play as a sniper and a thief, where I could pick the humorous and cheeky dialogue options, but she quickly gained more depth and became a character in her own right. Hers is a journey of a survivor of extreme trauma where she lost her family, who uses humor and witty remarks to protect herself from the world and said trauma, and who shirks responsibility, originating from a "I only care about me and mine" philosophy - her people and her friends being the quickest way to spur her into action and become serious - only to slowly become invested in the outside world and grow into a leader.
