Jane Deathchain was once a powerful witch known for her skills in the forbidden magic of necromancy. This magic earned her many enemies, and one day, she was struck down by an opposing witch. Finding it an ironic way to seal her fate, the other witch transformed Jane into a slowly-but-surely decaying jiangshi.
However, what none were prepared for was Jane's brain still functioning after death. Using her knowledge in all manners of the undead, she used her own necromancy on herself to keep her alive. Further magic guards she placed on herself included various talismans that prevented her decay, and allowed her to move her body parts freely.
While still a smart and capable witch, she remains largely in hiding due to her zombie body being weakened. Her brain also suffered from slight decay, leading to a shift in personality and memory loss. Now, who was once a cunning and sly magician is now an empty-headed, happy-go-lucky member of the undead!
One thing that remains both in life and death is her love for objects. She treats inanimate objects closely and with respect, and her witch stick is her most prized possession. She never leaves without her stick. Thankfully, it was enchanted to never break.
