Name: Sidewinder

Name Meaning: A medium-sized long-tailed bird, typically with a gray or brown back and barred or pale underparts. Many cuckoos parasitically lay their eggs in the nests of small songbirds. Sometimes used derogatorily to call someone insane.

Background: Formerly an ambassador on behalf of the Sand Kingdom, Sidewinder's career came to an end after entering an affair with Queen Avalanche's Prince Consort Snowdrift and clutching. She was advised by her friend (and former employer) Princess Coyote to "lay low" which resulted in her and her son relocating multiple times to a plethora of remote Sand Kingdom villages. Eventually, the two of them wound up in the same village as Mirage, where she raised Adder for a year or so before the villagers began catching wind of his animus magic. She moved once more, this time leaving the Sand Kingdom altogether, and began raising her son in isolation out of paranoia. At some point, after Adder had become an adult, she was captured by IceWing authorities and imprisoned by Queen Avalanche. Her incarceration would result in her son, Adder, granting Minty the power to take over the Ice Kingdom.

Personality: Sidewinder has always done her best to present herself as the reasonable sort and a voice of reason. She can come off a bit judgmental at times and can be steadfast in her ways. She's more impulsive than she cares to admit. She was a very affectionate mother, raising Adder, which teetered into codependency once they left the Sand Kingdom. She wanted nothing more than to protect her son but stripped his autonomy away to do so which he resents once it's revealed. She's a good woman with a lot of regrets.
