ACT I
Born in a tiny wooden shack to a young, penniless couple, Francisca spent her early years helping her parents with their work, often helping her mother washing clothes or tending to the loom, then going out with her father to fish with the rest of the village as soon as she was old enough. In the context of the war, she was often amidst an environment of growing tensions and fears of an attack on her region, enduring impending poverty and violence. She had minimal education at home as there were no schools for her to attend, with no means to afford private tutoring, so she was content with living a simple life within the confines of her small hometown.
Her village is located within a small, forgotten piece of land in an archipelago far north, a poor fishing settlement in a salt marsh with a population of about 130 people. There is nothing to export and no economic relevancy, most of the people sustaining themselves by fishing for their own food, only occasionally leaving into the mainland to sell goods for a minimum amount of extra money. Services are often provided only within the span of the village itself, and life is often monotonous. Nobody leaves, and nobody ever moves in. More powerful people have no interest in its people, as the soil is sandy and unfit for planting, and there are no natural resources to extract.
During childhood she had a very close relationship to her siblings, which often involved tormenting the older people of her village, sparring, roughhousing together and going out into the mainland during festivals to enjoy the music and the food stalls. When they weren’t helping their parents with work, they had to keep themselves occupied some other way, having nearly no other children their age to play with, and there was nothing to do while staying home. Their father was a troubled alcoholic who would leave for days at a time and take all the money with him, while their mother was often busy with work at home.
ACT II
At 13 years old, her father goes missing and isn't found. It is suspected he fell into the sea in a drunken stupor. At 16 years old, during a period of growing difficulty to put food on the table and no money, Francisca decides to enlist in the army of the south, figuring she'd be helping her mother with having one less mouth to feed. She assumes she'll be able to go home in a year or two.

She carries a common foot soldier's arming sword: Single handed, cruciform and made of damascus steel. It is only lightly weathered.
MaigremorHer horse, a gray dun colored rouncey, trained for war, but mostly used for riding and other common tasks. He has a quiet, aloof temperament, and despite not being specialized for anything, Francis feels a great level of kinship for him.
Filleting knifeOriginally used for thinly slicing raw fish, this 7-inch, hand-crafted knife is a keepsake from her upbringing in her fishing village up north. She carries it with her not only for practical use, but also as a reminder of home. It was originally used by her father before being given to her as a gift.
