Vaku

• He's fairly small and lean, and only around 5'4
• While he is human, he has been mutated by the local wildmagics of Xaheth, giving him his odd features and some animalistic tendencies.

Despite the fact that many view him as "feral" or uncivilized, Vaku is quite the opposite. He is extremely smart, extremely cunning, and very adaptable. He surprises people often by very quickly picking up on their customs and mannerisms and imitating them, and being quite quick to figure out what something new is used for and utilizing it. It catches people off guard when they expect little from him. This however, is also a major contribute to his survival on his own for so long. The  monstrous creatures sharing his homeland are quicker, stronger, and bigger than him- but he is by far more intelligent a hunter than they.

He is rather secretive- though surprisingly not a loner. He does not mind company as long as they don't act stupid and put them in more danger, and actually quite enjoys having someone to talk to and share stories with. He can usually blend in pretty well with most people and is fairly outgoing when he wants to be, but he does have an unusual sense of  humor and tends to laugh at strange things, which can be offputting to some.

He does prioritize his own safety, simply by necessity. Its what he's used to and it's always been the most important thing to him to maintain his own survival, but he is quite kind and will go out of his way to help others so long as it doesn't pose a massive risk to himself. Even if he might get annoyed with their foolishness and scold them for it later.  

His main flaw is his nasty temper, he can be hard to get angry- but when he does he can be extremely aggressive and violent. He does have some "feral"- esque mannerisms he's picked up over time, growling- snarling, and biting, and this is especially bad if he is cornered or feels attacked. He does try and not let it get the better of him but its an instinctive reaction he can't always control. 

Vaku is a mysterious young man from the realm of Xaheth, a continent usually unlivable by any sort of humankind because it is ruled by the  elements and massive beasts. He is a resourceful survivalist, and a  magical hybrid of man and monster, allowing him the ability to dwell (To some degree) among the native life without drawing much attention. Outsiders draw monsters to their location with their noisy habits and unusual smells, but Vaku has lived there his entire life and effectively blends in to the food chain. He is a masterful hunter, clever warrior, and can sometimes come across more beast than human.

He learned all he knows of speaking the human tongue from a visitor who came to him, when a misguided attempt at visiting his land crashed a ship and he happened upon a survivor. They were together for some time, in which he taught the (at the time) young boy to read and write, and gave him some sort of place among the society of humankind. He retained this information, and now frequently makes deals with traders to give rare  supplies from Xaheth including medicines, monster bones, and work with their researchers to document the realm. He occasionally will take the brave to his homeland and show them around for a time, but in these  instances he cannot guarantee their safety, and at the end of the day  his survival is more paramount to him. 

He's been invited to move permanently to a more hospitable country, but he refuses. He has no desire to live among the humans who don't understand the simple necessities of survival.

His exact origins are unclear, but researchers best guess assess him as a young boy lost in an expedition  who stumbled across a magic source or curse of some sort, transforming him into what he is now. They believe it could potentially be undone, but he isn't keen to give them that opportunity.
