Immortals are beings which do not age - many of them can still die, though this depends entirely on the type of immortal they are. The one consistency in appearance between all immortals is that they all have glowing eyes.

Deities

Deities are the most powerful and oldest immortals by far. They are the creators of magic, and can transcend the corporeal and ethereal planes at will, and can also freely interact with and enter the intereal plane. As they create magic, they do not require magic to survive. Most deities have their own realm within the ethereal plane, and some have afterlives for former mortals and demons to go to after death. Deities, with the exception of the maverick-deity, are created by the Great Deity. Never before has anyone - demideity, angel, pseudodeity, demon, spirit, or mortal - become a deity. The only consistency in the appearance of deities is that they always have gold markings.

Great Deity

There is only one Great Deity - Ninhursag. She is the creator of all the deities (except the maverick-deity) and by far the most powerful. She created the universe and all of the deities and cannot be killed.

Maverick-Deity

There is also only one maverick-deity: Sinclair. He is the only deity not created by Ninhursag and not originally from the universe in which Gaia resides. He comes from somewhere and somewhen beyond this universe, an emissary of an immensely magically-powerful hive entity known as Myriad. He cannot be killed by even Ninhursag, and his power grows the longer he remains in this universe, but as of now, his power is limited and he could be imprisoned by Ninhursag if she saw the need and could be bothered, or could also be imprisoned by a triune deity if they wanted to - though it might be more difficult for them.

Triune Deities

Triune deities are the most powerful of the deities outside of the Great Deity - they are three deities in one, which can separate to become deities which are still powerful, but not quite as powerful as a warrior-deity. United, however, triune deities can kill warrior-deities and regular deities, and are a real force to be reckoned with.

Warrior-Deities

Warrior-deities are typically chief deities of Pantheons, but not always. They're amongst the most powerful of the deities and can kill regular deities.

Celestials

Celestials (or voidkeepers) are cosmic entities created by Ninhursag for the purpose of guiding spirits and deceased deities into the void beyond. They are the only beings other than Ninhursag that can bring others into the void beyond, and as a result they exist only so long as they don't bring an unwilling spirit into the void beyond. Deities don't get a choice once they die, but spirits must provide informed consent in order for a celestial to bring them into the void beyond. Celestials are immune to other immortals but don't really have a way to necessarily fight back, either. They are simply immune to attacks and cannot be killed unless they violate their oath to only bring consenting spirits into the void beyond - and even then, it's an automatic magical failsafe that kills them. Celestials who choose to take on an anthropomorphic form can be recognised by their forearms being pitch black or looking like a clear nightsky or perhaps a nebula.

Demideities

Demideities are either former angels, demons, and mortals who achieved demigodhood or were created by a deity or multiple deities. Becoming a demideity can be done through complex and oftentimes dangerous rituals or if the demigodhood was gifted to them by a deity or sometimes a powerful angel or another demideity. They're the second-most-powerful immortal after deities and alongside angels, but even then, their power pales in comparison to that of deities. Though they are ranked alongside angels, this is less because every demideity is as powerful as angels and more because it depends from demideity-to-demideity and angel-to-angel, since demideities and angels both vary in power. Demideities can traverse between the corporeal and ethereal planes and typically can interact with the intereal plane. Powerful demideities can have their own realm within the ethereal plane, but rarely ever more than one.

Angels

Angels are immortals whose magical power is entirely derived from a deity. They are thusly bound by the constraints put upon them by their deity, and therefore each angel's abilities might vary widely from another. Some angels are powerful to go toe-to-toe with the most powerful demideities, while others are barely more powerful than lowly demon. Some angels can freely traverse the corporeal and ethereal planes and some can't - it depends on how tight of a leash their deity keeps. Same goes for whether or not an angel can interact with or enter the intereal plane. Some angels are former demons and mortals, while others were created by deities with the sole purpose of serving their creator-deity.

Pseudodeities

Pseudodeities are either former angels, demons, and mortals - but most typically demons and mortals - who achieved pseudogodhood, or were created by a deity or multiple deities. Becoming a pseudodeity can be done through rituals which are less complex and dangerous than those involved with achieving demigodhood, though the result yields less powerful results. Pseudogodhood can also be bestowed by a deity, angel, or demideity. Pseudodeities do not require magic to survive, but unlike demideities, they require magic through rituals if they are to exert power. Unlike demons, pseudodeities are not reliant on these rituals for survival and are not limited by which rituals may give them magic. This makes them the third-weakest immortals. Very few pseudodeities - only the most powerful of them - can enter the ethereal plane. Most are bound to the corporeal plane. Many pseudodeities can interact with the intereal plane, however, but few can actually enter it.

Demons

Demons are former angels, spirits, and mortals who must partake in rituals in order to gain magical energy and thereby survive. Some demons are more powerful than others, but demons are usually fairly limited by their ability to perform their assigned rituals and whatever powers they'r relegated to use. There are several types of demons which perform different rituals in order to gain magical energy. A demon which fails to perform their assigned ritual for too long will suffer magic-starvation and eventually die, becoming a spirit. Some demons became demons via a ritual, while some were mortals or spirits chosen by a deity, angel, or deity to become a demon. Others still are former angels cast out by their deity. For more on the types of demons and the rituals they partake in, see [LORE: DEMONS].

Spirits

Spirits are former demons and mortals. Both demons and mortals become spirits after death, and most spirits spend their time in the intereal plane unless chosen by a deity or demideity. Spirits are the weakest immortals and cannot traverse between any of the planes without help. Some spirits, however, which were once powerful demons or mortals, are able to interact with the corporeal plane through the intereal plane.
