THIS WORLD THAT I HAVE TRUSTED IS BENT OVER
AND BUSTED AND RUSTED BY AN ARBITRARY SONOGRAM

Name KAMARIA (IZARA)

Age 41 YEARS

Gender FEMALE

Orientation ???

Species BOVINE

Build AVERAGE

Height 13 HH

Background NON-MAGE

Occupation SHIPMENT & TRADE

RESIDENCE FALINE

Personality

Graceful is the doe.
Kamaria holds herself with raised, level eyes and strong posture. Hiding her identity she bottles much of who she once was, this hidden wild side swallowed by the need for perfection and safety. She is logical in her approach to adversaries and does all she can to stay calm and collected - even hopefully boring so as to not bring awareness to the person still living underneath. Part of this is not entirely unfamiliar to her life with her sister, but it has strengthened in its intensity.
With horns there is ire.
A trait that she little realizes she has is her bravery. Sure she can stand up for herself sometimes, but never does she think of it as one of her defining traits. It was her courage that allowed her to stand beside the roughest of people and it was this again that she used to run from them. Leaving all she knew to keep living instead of letting death take her easily.
Under the moon you understand not what you see.
Oh how the world turns when the skeptic towards the outsider has become the outsider. Kamaria's will to live has forced her into the life of a lie, a life of constant paranoia when there is no guarantee she'll ever be able to trust another to keep her secret. No certainty that the kindness she is afforded is not double edged, ready to strike when she has lost her use. This surprisingly is at no blame to others, for she believes herself to be no better.
Strength is from bleeding.
Empathy is a buried part of her but no less guides many of her actions. It can take her a long time to understand others actions and reasons, often it merely shows as general advice. "Eat more it will keep you stronger," "don't stay up so late," "have you tried thinking for two seconds?" Curt, a little too on the nose, but still an attempt at being helpful. When she does finally allow herself, it is a much quieter form of understanding.
She isn't quite good at it but its a part of her none the less.

History

TW: Parent death / Abuse / Violence / Child death

A Trade
-

  • Kamaria has no memories of her birth clan. As an act of peace between her clan and the Sky Mouth Clan, the two exchanged first born children to strengthen their relationship. In order to prevent complications, both children weren't allowed to see their birth parents.
  • Her name is originally "Izara" meaning star. Named for the brightness of the stars on the day they took her in. Under the care of the chief, Izara would grow up along side her new sister.
  • Sky Mouth Clan is militaristic. Their way of life and the way they taught their children was full of rigorous training and strict lessons of tradition. She was taught to learn their ways the moment she could stand, and to do it quickly. Something that often became overwhelming if not for the promise of affection.
  • She learned a great deal of things even just before 10. How to defend herself, to hunt game, to row a boat on the lake, when it was the best time to harvest crops.
  • Most importantly, Izara was taught that her main job was to be her sister's supporter. Her right hand in all she did. Something that the two inseparable siblings didn't mind one bit.
  • Later in life, her main tasks were advising, organizing, giving religious speeches, and guarding her from potential threats.

Bonds Made in Blood
-

  • Her new found family, although very rigid, were generous with their praises. Her father especially seemed to have a soft spot for Izara, the two personalities meshing together as if she were his blood child. Her mother, the chief of the tribe, reasonably had higher standards to meet. Though even she showed great care for Izara's needs.
  • The bond between the two siblings was something else entirely. Perhaps it was orchestrated, but the two didn't see the difference and were happy to do everything together even if it was technically mandatory that Izara would need to do so anyway.
  • Izara was not punished often, nor did they feel unreasonable to her. It may of been harsher than the discipline her sister would get, she often felt she deserved it if they believed she had failed them. Her sister's tough love could be hard to manage, especially when playful bullying would go too far, but no relationship was perfect and they'd recover from these hiccups.
  • Being her sister's sparring companion was how they'd traditionally train. Izara was clever and was better at closing the distance than her sister - she had won a many great duels. Things would change as it became evident her sister was a mage. It had been years since the last heir mage and this only fueled the chief's desire to push them both further. Despite being severely disadvantaged, Izara was still demanded to spar. She did not win as much after that.
  • Love was blossoming as they reached 18, many around their age busying themselves with their fleeting crushes and passing fancies. As much as her sister teased and egged her on, Izara never felt she had the time for such things as she did. It wasn't forbidden, but it wasn't hard to tell her mother would be displeased.
  • To this day, Kamaria's love life is summarized entirely in one late summer festival. Gentle, warm, and fleeting. Something that only worsened her desire. Her sister, far luckier, fell into a long lasting love that would eventually bare fruit.

The Night is Cold
-

  • Eventually the time came when Izara's sister would have her first son. Zayan. Izara was eager to be an aunt and was quick to show the gentle side of herself to her new nephew. Unable to make time to have her own children, she was more than ready accept this as her own special way of raising a young one.
  • This moment of renewed joy was all too brief. The struggles of keeping a militaristic clan stable was never ending, and the birth of a child did nothing to slow conflicts between rival clans. The one with the brunt of that weight would always be her sister.
  • The passing of their father was only a sign for worse to come. Grief hit Izara the hardest with this passing, but even she wasn't able to grieve long when war continued to rage on their borders.
  • The clan was strong but resources would always be finite, especially patience. Having to bare a child and help their mother manage the weight of leadership it was no wonder her sister finally started to crack. Her waning tolerance was not only directed at her people, but even to her son. Something Izara couldn't tolerate any longer. Helping her carry the weight, pleading with her lenience, all of it did little to ease the slow progression of her growing harshness. Tensions rose between the two sisters, once inseparable now tensely avoidant.
  • On the day that Zayan came back from one of these 'training sessions' he could barely lift his spoon before he declared he wasn't hungry. A little 6 year old, too worn down to eat. It was this that made Izara finally think clearly.

  • In the night, Izara woke Zayan from his bed and carried him out of their small village. She had set up a plan to give him to a willing family once they were further out. That way she could return and her nephew would be in safe hands.... but that would never happen.
  • Caught red handed her sister swore vengeance on her for her betrayal, scarring her once beloved sister's face as they tried to flee. She did not let up after that. Zayan, her dear nephew had done his best to keep up with Izara. The boy was too weak however, and when he inevitably became ill Izara could barely afford time to find him medicine before they'd be found again. For two months they walked, forced to move forward again. Then one day, he couldn't.
  • Unable to return home as a traitor and with her reason for change now gone, Izara felt trapped. And more alone than she ever felt before.

The Sun Proposed to The Moon
-

  • With only her drive to live left, Izara takes a long journey North to Faline. In the heart of the city, her chances of survival would be at their best and none of her clan would expect it. Starting anew, she had chosen a new name; Kamaria. She also used makeup to hide that identifying scar across her face and colored lens glasses for extra measure.
  • Kamaria's story would be simple. Some nobody town on some nowhere farm. A girl raised on the land but an Ivras citizen none the less, all she lacked was some proper clothes and an education. Admittedly, she might have stolen a handful of clothes, hopefully no one missed those...
  • After a few failed attempts at getting a job, Kamaria had followed a lead to Cyngus Shipment & Trade. It was then she was fated to meet Hemlock.
  • As far as initial impressions go, she had to admit he was respectable as well as almost obscenely generous. She also wouldn't be surprised if anyone else found him not bad looking either. Though all these traits only furthered her distrust of him.
  • Regardless of her suspicions, she went along and told the same cover story. Whether or not he believed her (she was most certainly convinced he did not. Annoying.) Kamaria was given the job, even when she made it expressly clear that she intended for this to be a brief employment. Just until she could finish her education. And if he offered to set her up in a nice school, well she was only going to look strange if she refused.
  • Kamaria proved to be an incredibly hard worker, not to mention a surprisingly quick learner. She exceled in organizing and sorting packages, as well as keeping others busy. Any amount of praise for these achievements was accepted, though clearly with hesitance. She'd tolerate Hemlocks rules and logic, but continue to keep her guard up. She doesn't trust his kindness, her safety however was something she couldn't deny the truth of.
  • Almost nearing two years of employment Kamaria is relatively content with her job and her progress in her education. Still, she spends her days throwing herself into her work, and the friends she has made she keeps at a safe distance only to further her appearance.

  • Her life may be stablizing now, but for how long can the doe run from her past?

Trivia

  • Kamaria is never seen without her tinted glasses, only raising them slightly if she needs to examine the color of something. She also has a pearl earring on her left ear, something her father gifted her in secret that she's able to wear without worry. She mostly wears warm tones like dull reds and silver jewelry. She dresses very simply, still not having picked up a sense of style yet.
  • While good with numbers and organizing, she's not very skilled with a brush or writing creatively. Her true hobby lies in reading though she still has room to nurture new hobbies if she finds the right thing.
  • Kamaria has a secret love of humor, but is embarrassed by her own laughter. She tells herself and others that jokes are childish but enough prodding proves at her core she enjoys it.
  • Not often brought up, but Kamaria has a few allergies! Her lactose intolerance is less intense than her allergy to shellfish, the latter which she more keenly avoids.

Design Notes

Feral:

  • Kamaria is very very heavily based on bongo antelopes, near 1 to 1. This makes her even more of a night owl than usual, making her grumpiness during mid day all the more foul. More positively this does mean her vision at night is better than most.
  • She has a total of 10 stripes. 2 on her neck, the other 8 along her body. Her coat and more noticeably her neck has actually gotten duller with age.
  • Her fur is smooth and fine throughout, but her ears and belly are exceptionally fuzzy. Very important.

Human:

  • Human Kamaria is not particularly tall but certainly not short for a woman, standing at roughly 5'6 FT tall weighing about 160 lbs.
  • She used to keep her hair very short, but has since grown it out after changing her name. The thick hair starts smooth then curls more at the ends.
  • It's especially evident on human Kamaria she's lived a life of labor. She keeps her nails short and her hands are still calloused. Her arms that she hides in long sleeves have well defined muscle from years of sparring as well as a great many deal of small scars she's unable to hide without fur or makeup.
