His boss Azrael stationed him at the hotel to assist with the hotel's redemption program. This is where Alto met his current partner, Void.
Back story:
Alto was created as a guardian angel before Azrael had begun promoting existing angels into the role. Azrael decided to use a deer as inspiration for Alto's overall look, thinking the image of a gentle animal would help ease souls that Alto would end up guarding and watching. The angel of death didn't realize that Alto would develop a love of music. He was the one that made Alto's violin for him and began to teach the angel how to channel his magic through it. When Alto started developing his magic, it was chaotic and out of control. The angel was gifted with magic that is derived from vibrations and frequencies of sound. When uncontrolled, his magic can be extremely dangerous.
The guardian angel has a near perfect record when it comes to the souls he has looked after in his lifetime. Only two souls of his wards ended up in hell, and Alto never agreed with that decision from the higher ups. He tried appealing for both souls, but ultimately, they were condemned to hell.
Alto is extremely caring, becoming emotionally attached to every soul in his care. However, his overall aloof nature makes him come off as a bit prudish to others outside of his work. He has social anxiety, and the crowded spaces of heaven are ones he actively avoids. He hates being the center of attention and will do pretty much anything to keep eyes off of himself. Unfortunately, this usually means that he overworks himself to avoid returning to the home office.
He constantly gets into arguments with Adam's exorcists, calling them hypocrites for claiming to defend heaven while murdering souls that have already been judged. He's even been known to go against Adam himself every now and then. Most guardian angels despise the extermination, because it goes against everything they actively work for.
Alto has a few faults in his nature. If he's in a situation where he has lost control, he will break down and explode in anger as a defense mechanism. He is loyal to a fault, and will never say no to an order, something that has gotten him in a lot of trouble. Alto has no sense of self preservation and will put himself in dangerous situations without a second thought. Unfortunately, he will defend those he loves with his life, but he won't stand up for himself and let's many in heaven use him.
Additional Information:
When he is startled/surprised, he will bleat like a deer and his ears will fluff up.
He is typically wearing gloves to protect him from touching certain textures with his bare skin. He cannot handle certain textures, typically scratchy surfaces, and his gloves help him keep a barrier up while he goes about his work like normal.
His eyes glow when he's anxious or afraid.
