Impey Barbicane

Ever since a young age, Impey Barbicane was fascinated by firearms, less their applications than the mechanisms behind them. As he grew, so did the subjects of his fascination. He graduated from handheld pistols and rifles to artillery, cannons and mortars, though never losing a certain scientific detachment from the violence these things carried out.

During the American Civil War, his talents were put to use in the service of the union, along with many others of like thought, who together formed what would be known as the Baltimore Gun Club. With his natural, if dry, charisma and his much greater responsibility and organization compared to the rest of the Gun Club, he naturally rose to the position of President thereof.

With the end of the war came a drought in work for the gun club, but where his fellows saw an abyss of boredom, he saw an opportunity to turn the artillery sciences to a higher cause than destruction. Quite literally, in fact. His aim was to land a projectile on the moon. With this aim in mind, he came to his most ambitious project yet.

• Has all four limbs(!!!)
• Was not originally going to send a man in his projectile. It was only at the special request of one Michel Ardan to be placed inside that this idea was brought up.
• The construction of his cannon was carried out with a great degree of safety and care.
