Rapidkit was adored by other queens for his bright pale colors and large eyes. He took the compliments too seriously at times and would get into tumbles and races with the other kits. His own mother, Bluebelly, took his rambunctiousness harshly and would separate him from the nursery to clean the camp. She was praised as an excellent parent, motivating Rapidkit by spoiling him with flattery. However, Bluebelly only put up this act in public, leaving her kit very confused when she periodically neglected him. Rapidkit's father, Minnowtail, had left Bluebelly a moon into her pregnancy. He never visited the nursery.
apprenticeship
Rapidpaw's young mentor, Beetlewaters, was an adept stealth hunter. His darker pelt allowed him to hide in coral shadows. As a result, he was not the best teacher to Rapidpaw, and the two would argue all the time. In frustration, the apprentice would resort to blundering after large prey. Generally, Beetlewaters was short-tempered. To train, they would often mock-fight each other for half a day. Rapidpaw learned slower than his fellow apprentices, and Bluebelly soon suggested that he train to be medicine cat instead. While he didn't mind the change at first, he was terrible in medicine, and would slowly despise this decision.

As a medicine cat, Rapidsun was often exploring or hunting. He was criticized for leaving, but he'd rather jump into border scuffles than sort herbs. Even though many of his clanmates question his knowledge, Rapidsun learned more from his late mentor than most of the medicine cats in other clans. However, he lacked experience and patience. The tom's relationship with his mother and Tigerlilly continued to decline.
