Profile

Born in a small but very loving village, Ryo discovered his musical talents at a young age. He worked a lot on his cello and loved to play and entertain the rest of his village. It was a small and tightly-knit community, and Ryo enjoyed making people happy and sharing his music. After his skill with the cello developed, he realized he could manipulate sound when not playing, and began to train his abilities. He had no real need to use them to fight, however, as his village was peaceful and tucked away in the foot of the mountains.

At the age of sixteen and bored with his life, Ryo packed up his cello and said goodbye to his parents and village. It wasn't teenage rebellion, there was no fall-out between his family and him; he simply wanted a different life and to get out and explore, and his family was accepting of his decision. He went to the cities, playing his cello for money and eking out a rough living as a traveler. He was, however, happy with his life, but felt that it was missing something - although he couldn't place what. It was boring, he figured out eventually, but he had no idea how to change that.

Fate changed it for him. He was travelling to a coastal city when a girl quite literally ran into him. She didn't even have time to introduce herself before she was grabbing his paw and running again. When they finally came to a halt, deep within the coastal city, the girl introduced herself as Uvoria. She was being chased, and had no time to explain before dragging Ryo with her. She explained that she was the princess of a small island to the south. The island was very old-fashioned and practiced some old religious customs. It had recently been her eighteenth birthday, and the tribal elders of the kingdom had announced that she would be sacrificed to the gods. Fearing death, she had fled - but the kingdom had sent warriors after her to bring her back.

Sympathetic, Ryo agreed to travel with her for a while and to try and keep her safe. They had quite a bit in common as Uvoria told him she was a songstress and loved to sing, and the two became fast friends. They made it to another city, and were moving on from then when they were attacked by the island warriors. In the fighting, one of Uvoria's wings was injured, and in his rage Ryo drove off the warriors, injuring them badly. He healed Uvoria with a song and slowly began to realized that he had fallen in love with the island songstress. She told him she felt the same way, and for a time the two were quite happy.

But then everything changed. (when the Fire Nation attacked /SHOTSOHARD) While traveling, Ryo and Vria were ambushed by the island warriors, who, even after a full year, had not stopped chasing them. The two were captured, and Ryo was drugged and taken along with Uvoria. Eventually, he woke up at the island, in a dungeon and chained to the wall. The guards refused to say anything, despite his pleadings about Uvoria and her condition. A week passed, and then much to Ryo's surprise, Uvoria suddenly came down into the dungeon one day. Ryo, frantic, inquired about her health and attempted to reach her... when Vria began to laugh. She told him it had all been a game, every last bit of it. Her island had never been going to sacrifice her. She was their princess, yes, and loved to sing - but she was first and foremost a warrior. It had been a test, she told him, to outrun her kingdom's best fighters and to see how long she could last on the outside world. Ryo being dragged into her game had added another element of fun; dragging around the useless idiot who had fallen in love with her.

Distraught, she left Ryo to rot in the cell for several weeks. Time passed, and he grew weaker and weaker. The next thing he knew, someone was dragging him out of his cell and tossing him into an arena. He was pitted against other warriors in a gladiator-esque tournament, and it was kill or be killed. Despite his peaceful nature, Ryo fought in the tournament - but never killed. He eventually won the tournament, and then it seemed like the island became bored with him. They released him from their captivity and dumped him on the nearest land mass. Broken mentally and physically, it took him a long time to recover as he resumed his old traveler lifestyle.

Many years later, he happened to meet a strange girl by the name of Kisbiel while passing through a city. Though she seemed to be annoyed and sour at first, Ryo's charm began to work it's way through her grumpy demeanor. The two eventually settled into a sort of friendliness, and Kisbi even agreed to take Ryo to a mysterious, paradise-like land.

Their trip was rather uneventful (except for Ryo becoming lost in a swamp) and after reaching the land the two parted ways, albeit a little sadly.

A few months later, much to his surprise, Ryo stumbled upon Kisbi again while lost in a somewhat dangerous environment. After dragging Ryo back to safety, things became awkward when Kisbiel admitted she had feelings for Ryo, but he could not reciprocate them due to his fractured past. They maintained an awkward friendship for some time and continued to travel together. However, the two were unfortunate enough to become trapped on a particular block of land when an earthquake hit, tearing the ground apart with fissures and causing widespread destruction. The two very nearly died when a fissure opened up beneath them, but were saved by Kisbi's psychic powers.

After his miraculous rescue, it was as if a veil had been lifted from Ryo's eyes. He admitted that he had come to fall for Kisbi, too, against his instincts, and that he wished to stay with her and travel for their foreseeable future. They continue to travel and explore new lands together, happy as can be.
