Irena was energetic girl, who had many admirers in her youth. She was always family-oriented and soon settled in with Szczepan. She was also a case-harden woman, who did everything in the house – especially after her husband’s death – from cleaning, cooking, to fixing the homeware. Even if taking care of the house and her 4 children was hard, she never complained.

Blurb

Irena Parczewska (née Aschenberg) is a post-mortem character in A Ballad About Silesia during the 1950s arc. She was the mother of Jorg, Richat, Hajdla and Krzysiek and the wife of Szczepan Parczewski, as well as the neighbor to Cegielnik family.

Irena was born on July 18th, 1909, in Gleiwitz to a family of coal miners. As a child, the family moved to Gieschewald and in her early 20s, Irena married Szczepan Parczewski, a young lad from the same town. In the 1930s, their first children were born – Jorg and Richat. Then, in 1939, they had Hajdla. After that, World War II came and not long after the birth of their fourth and last child, Krzysiek, was born, Szczepan got drafted to the Wehrmacht; he died during the battle and since then, Irena was left alone with 4 children. In 1950, at the age of 41, died because of a fatal heart attack and since then, the oldest brothers are taking care of the family.
