Guinevere’s absent-as-possible brother. He’s trying to take over the landscaping business from his father, but Gavin is resistant to passing the torch. Elaine targets Arthur when she can’t have Guinevere.

Perpetually tired, but never drinks coffee. Dedicated tea-drinker, with the occasional cup of proper French chocolat chaude around Christmas time.

He really, really loves plants. If his father hadn’t shamed him into taking over the landscaping business, he honestly would’ve been happier taking over his mother’s flower shop.

Background

Arther may be first born, but he finds no pleasure in it. Elaine’s machinations have been going on since she was a child. She’s the one who got kids at school to start calling him “Arthur Aardvark,” a nickname that embarrassed him the longer it followed him, ensuring he remained isolated from his schoolmates—especially since he tended toward looking rather weedy, and plants were his main focus. This isolation didn’t change much, even after Elaine’s attention turned to Guinevere, as anytime Arthur seemed like he’d finally get free, Elaine would turn her attention to him again.

He’s supposed to take over his father’s landscaping business, but as he can’t seem to convince Gavin to pass the torch and he’s exhausted from dealing with Elaine, he’s considering talking his father into planting a franchise in a local city down the mountain and putting him in charge.

Internal Conflicts

Arthur feels sorry for Guin, but feels sorrier for himself. He’s been run so ragged that he can barely think to save himself, much less someone else. He hates that part of himself, but not enough to try and change it.
