Cleanrot Knight Escarne

Escarne is one of Malenia's many Cleanrot Knights who succumbed to the Scarlet Rot during the Shattering war. She lay in suspension in the Swamp of Aeonia for untold time, until the Rot itself spurred her awake.

Granted some of her lucidity again, Esk and the Rot set out on a quest to find Malenia. Esk does not know the Rot's purpose for her is to kill Malenia and force her to bloom again.

A contingent of Kindred of Rot tend to follow Esk around, worshipping her for reasons she doesn't understand. She finds them slightly annoying, but also a handy source of food and spare body parts when the need takes her.
