Sagr lived during the times of Starswirl the Bearded, he lived in what would become the town of Breton on Trot and was the local blacksmith there. When a cockatrice started threatening the villagers, Sagr took his trusty hammer Jóarr and left to vanquish the creature, while he did manage to stop the cockatrice from terrorising the village, he was petrified in the process. Sagr remained petrified in the cave he fought the cockatrice in up until the modern day, the cave were connected to the Well of Restoration and after centuries of the waters dripping on him, the petrification was undone.  

After being healed, Sagr moved back to Breton on Trot and resumed his work as a blacksmith, although he has trouble talking to others with the only languages he speaks being a mix of Old Ponish and Old Horse.

At a first glance Sagr is your typical strong, stoic type but first glances can be deceiving! His destiny may be in blacksmithing, but Sagr is an avid storyteller, able to weave many a tale, and knowledgeable in the myths and legends of the lands he and his ancestors inhabit and eager to spread this knowledge with anypony or creature, willing to listen. He has a strong sense of duty, and is fiercely loyal to those around him, as long as you pose no threat to his village, you are his friend and he will treat you as such.
