Astra Maricella Crowley is a Filipino-American woman aspiring to grow her independent news company. This takes place in the 1940s where women are always shunned and pressured to be housewives but instead she is an independent journalist as she left her job from a bigger journalist company, so she has experience in researching and communicating with local news. 

Her reason to why she quit is she was tired of being told by her supervisors to lie and exaggerate the news to gain more attention it was their business tactic, she has seen how people get upset about their stories being exaggerated and misinformed. Which is why Astra took it in her own hands to start a company with her twin brother to publish accurate information about everything. It is very damaging for citizens to believe in lies and for interviewees to be misrepresented. 

She struggles to gain attention on her company and news line, because journalism is a very competitive industry but also she is looked down on for not being a “traditional woman”. Bigger companies overshadow her work and she faces a lot of criticism by bigger companies or the public, which ruins her company’s reputation. No one seems to pay a lot of attention to her work, because it’s not eye catching while the bigger companies use lies to attract viewers. 

She also struggles to get an interviews with people she wants to talk to. Because she isn’t qualified as a legit company. So she only does small local news for now.
