Preceding New Vegas:

Gazer Valmorida is a strong-willed if not stubborn and impulsive person. Gazer was born to his mother, a doctor, with little to no knowledge of his own father. Not that he really cared all too much on that part however. He had never really had one place to stay as a child, his mother taking the risk and reward of traveling work rather than finding a real home. In his younger years, he became enthralled with prewar robotics and electronics. Delving deep into the throws of archaic RobCo and alike material, both literally and figuratively. Over the years he became a bit more than savvy with electronic parts, but practically speaking that kind of work wasn't exactly too highly demanded in Mojave market, especially if you're just some backwater wastelander and not a high end retailer. Through hell or high water however, Gazer had Delroy. The two grew up together in the same shanty settlement in California close to Nevada. The two stuck together ever since they were no more than twelve, putting their earnings together through Delroy's ranger and gun for hire jobs and Gazer's mechanical and medical skills to make a small living for themselves leading into their adult years. Gazer often accompanied Delroy on a number of mercenary jobs, learning to hold is own in a fight at a young age. Along with these odd jobs, came exploring th reaches of prewar ruin. It was harder for Delroy to NOT get Gazer to tag along on any contract or salvage job that might be leading them into an old factory or REPCONN building. Gazer's relationship with RobCo began with wonderment and admiration, the idea that someone could be so smart, invent so many skillfully designed machines naturally caught Gazer's eye. But when scouring old world ruins, it is not hard to find what's dragged in after.

Going into their mid-twenties, Delroy and Gazer's partnership divulged into more of a romantic one. One that would not exactly last. The two would occasionally have their fair share of spats, but it would come to a head after the birth of their daughter, Mirasol, when Gazer is 32. Although their daughter would be a welcome accident, the tensions bristling up between Del and Gazer would ultimately decide it would be better if they were apart. There was no animosity between the two, but the increasing instability of themselves and the environment resulted in frequent arguments. A downhearted “I love you, but this isn’t going to work” ending. Delroy, with much more suitability, became the main guardian of Mirasol when she was three, and Gazer was 35. Back on the road again, and much like his mother in his youth, Gazer was in search of jobs and caps. The most lucrative of which being couriering packages and mail across New California. Despite the hazards a job like that proposed, Gazer’s situation for caps was a bit more dire for him now, as he and Del still being quite connected, he wanted to help him and his child the best he could on top of the fact he needed to support himself now. The wasteland didn’t treat the man much better, having been kicked around a fair share of times, and it would be a lie to say he didn’t come out the other side at the very least a functional alcoholic. Regardless of his personal economy, Gazer still did what he could for Mirasol, and was an important and warm component of her life. So, when Del and Mirasol moved to the New Vegas area through Delroy’s recent (though not very lasting) employment by the NCR, Gazer followed not far behind, finding new work in the Mojave Express.

Likes:

Robots/robotics, fish/fishing, collecting bits and bobs, talking to robots/AIs over people, mending clothing, painting/art whenever he is actually able (namely landscapes), energy weapons, music & dancing, tequila, sunset sarsaparilla, bug meat (yes as food (surprisingly), the indoors, getting to altercations for fun (post head injury), The Followers of the Apocalypse, The Kings, gambling, spicy food, The Tops (for gambling), Blackjack, Crazy Nines, programming, piña coladas, batangas

Dislikes:

Being told what to do (especially post head injury), the Legion, the NCR (lot less than the Legion), The Brotherhood of Steel (still way less than the Legion), killing mantises (his daughter's favorite animal, it makes him feel bad), Zion National Park (too much outside), Mr. House (personal beef), Benny (more wishy-washy as time goes on (this is just becoming Gazer's personal shitlist), Gommorah, lakelurks

Relationships:

Delroy "Del" Kicklighter; Ex-partner (romantic), father of his child, very close friend

-There isn't much to say that hasn't already been said on the part of Gazer's and Del's past. If there's anyone who Gazer knows has his back (even in ways he doesn't particularly favor in the moment), it's Del. Due to Gazer's more wayward jobs and lifestyle prior to the Second Battle of Hoover Dam, Delroy was the one almost exclusively taking care of their daughter, though that wasn't at all to say Gazer didn't visit often. However a lasting relationship like theirs didn't come without drawbacks. Del hadn't seen Gazer since he left to deliver the platinum chip, and wouldn't see him again until after he had already taken over The Strip and Hoover Dam. Del is the one most privy to the extent of what the bullet wound left Gazer with, even more so than Gazer himself. Del knew exactly what he was like all his life, and new exactly when something was up. He was definitively the most confounded by Gazer's decision to personally declare an Independent New Vegas, growing to be at most cautiously and open-mindedly neutral to the situation.

Mirasol "Mantis" Kicklighter; Child

Arcade Gannon; Best friend/"it's complicated"

Yes Man; Partner, co-foreman of New Vegas, boyfriend?

Veronica Santangelo; Very close friend

Raul Tejada; Close friend

VictorClose friend

-After the Second Battle of Hoover Dam, Gazer set to restore Victor's AI to be operational again. Even if it might’ve just been some elaborate ploy by Mr. House, Gazer still considered himself on an IOU basis with Victor after the robot had saved his life. It took quite a bit of convincing, but he was eventually able to sway Victor to his side even with the assassination of House. Gazer was adamant that Victor is free to do what he chooses to, but the two both agreed they liked they idea of him traveling out into Outer Vegas and The Mojave to put some well needed protection and TLC into the world. When not traveling the roads of the desert, Victor most often stays back at his hometown, Goodsprings, Gazer frequently visiting him there and Victor vice versa to the Lucky 38.

Stealth Suit Mk IIclose friend, good company

Rex; Goodest boy, best dog

ED-E; pet cat (lovingly)

Phsyical Overview:

-Synthetic heart and spine (heartless and spineless perk)

-Vivisection scars from Sink Auto Doc

-Scars on hands from years of mechanical work

-The scar near his left eye is from a fight or accident when he was young

- Scars on shoulder and side happened while fighting the Legion

-Gun shot and surgical scar on his forehead from Benny shooting him and Doc Mitchell fixing him up

-Wears prescription glasses (four eyes trait)

-Began prematurely greying in his early to mid twenties, his hair being to look similar to how it does now in his mid thirties

-Top surgery scars, procedure done by an Auto Doc

Head Injury

When Benny shot him, he managed to hit him fairly point-blank in Gazer's forehead, damaging his frontal lobe. As one does when shot in the head, this presented a myriad of complications for Gazer. The brunt of his symptoms taking the form of: difficulty planning and organizing tasks, impaired judgment, riskiness and impulsivity, head fogginess, mood swings and difficulty concentrating. His memory was left relatively intact, he has trouble recalling a few things in the past but that can be more chalked up to brain fog. For the first few weeks Gazer didn't realize there had been a change in his own personality, mostly assuming some impairments to be caused by previous mental faculties, and simply not noticing the others. It is entirely possible Gazer had only followed through his path in the story because of the bullet to his brain. While he would not have worked with House, it is within possibility that he would have just delivered the chip and left well enough alone if Benny had never caught him. An Independent New Vegas may have been what Gazer would have wanted, but he wouldn't have been shooting Caesar in the face the second he's told he'll "regret listening to his orders" and issuing a complete change in management for the Lucky 38 via a nine iron turned bludgeoning tool. But hey I guess we'll never know...

Mental Status

Misc:

- I, evildammek, created his character on February 22nd of 2024

-Uses all of the Legion money he looted off of the assassins sent after him to gamble instead of caps, says he's "not actually wasting money that way."

-Good karma character due to his mantra of people should just help each other, if they don't they're just making the world worse for themselves. Can be relatively brutal to anyone in his way or in opposition of that.

-Killed Caesar his first and last time at the Fort, much to Arcade's chagrin. Barely scraped out of there but managed to take out Caesar and a good portion of his men with a laser pistol and a stealth boy while unnoticed, and a generous amount of explosives once noticed.

-Post-Second Battle of Hoover Dam, Gazer put out a caps reward to anyone who can bring him robots or robotic parts of any kind, working or not. He wants to fix them all up and give them new purpose, and if he can't, use the parts for robots who might need it. Part of it being he wants to, albeit a tad hamfistedly, fix the issue of the Followers being spread too thin with robots as well as try to make up for the vacuum in law enforcement left by the NCR with any other units. Unfortunately not as many people like robots as much as he does...

-Prefers to go to The Tops to actually gamble, thinks it's the best mix of clean and still fun. Despite his history with the former owner, he's chill with Swank, and the Ace's Theater is always a highlight

-Favorite card game ever is Crazy Nines, he used to play it with his mother and Del when he was younger. His favorite game to play in casinos is Blackjack

-Opened up the Lucky 38 as an actual public casino post-Hoover Dam. The hotel is still closed however, and the presidential suite especially is reserved to any of his friends that want a place indoors with running water to crash at.

-Uses programming terms, ten-code, and NATO phonetic alphabet sprinkled into conversation at times.

-When he and Delroy where kids (about fifteen), they developed a hand sign code system modified from asl books they found in an old dilapitated school house. At the time they had mainly done it because they were bored, inventive kids, but it's proven surprisingly handy (no pun intented). Gazer has attempted to use and teach this with Arcade, Veronica, and Raul with varying success

-Gazer’s dislike of Gomorrah has less to do with the actual establishment (though that was more of a factor prior to disposing of Nero and Big Sal) and more because he thinks it’s too smoky in there and he kept getting lost a few drinks after trying to find people he was supposed to have important talks with.
