SodaPopSgtThe life of a royal guard isn't as cushy as it sounds. Sure, the pay is nice, but is it really worth seeing the injustice the so-called king is committing upon the people he rules over? How much is too much? For Jean, it was a person just trying to get home, sent to the dungeon for trespassing without a second thought- twice in the same day!
While he regrets not standing up sooner, he doesn't regret freeing Ariel and Ross and sneaking them out of the dungeon. He would have fled, too... but he needed to stay and care for his grandmother. That doesn't make him useless, though. Something is up with the king, and Jean is just curious enough to try and find out what...
- Has no clear nose! Usually just the implication that there IS one there. Like a little circle or bump or something.
- Sometimes his little cowlick/ahoge thing is heart shaped bc I think it's cute.
- Yes he has little button eyes. Technically it's because he's supposed to have glasses but also I just think it's silly.

A total nervous wreck, Jean is. Riddled with anxiety and paranoia in his current situation. Were he under different circumstances, the part of him that is relatively calm would begin to show.
He's incredibly sensible, and likes lending an ear or hand to those who need it. He doesn't have all the words, but he likes to listen.

Jean grew up in a small town, about a weeks trip away from the Mindscape capital. Ever since he was little, Jean has wanted to make sure his family could live comfortably. When he moved in with his grandmother, whom he was very close with, he decided to apply for the position in the Royal guard, since he was now living closer to the castle.
During his time as a guard, Jean began to notice that the deeds of the king were unjust. Actions that deserved no more than a slap on the wrist were being treated with the same level punishment as real crime. Not to mention, the king's attitude seemed incredibly different from how it had been a year prior.
This eventually led to Jean meeting Ariel and Ross. After hearing Ariel's plea to the king, trying to ask for help getting home, and being sent to the dungeon for it, Jean sneaks the two of them out of the castle and sends them on their way. His job isn't finished, though. He wants to snoop around and learn more about what exactly turned the king into the soulless monster he is today.
After all is said and done, Jean doesn't really have much left to do. He's retired his position as a guard, and the fight is over, so what else is left? Well... he has been interested in where it is Ariel, Ross, and Odyssey came from....
- Initially intended to be a background character, but I fell in love with his simple looks.
- To everyone else he does in fact look normal. I draw him Like That because it's silly and different <3
- Has an older sister, Gloria, and a younger sister, Amelie!
- Hits his head on things often bc he's tall
She's actually very cool, in Jean's eyes. Despite her teasing, she seems to respect him enough.
