—Petrichor, Chapter 509: White Album, Part 1

SPOILER WARNING: Part 5 Spoiler details may follow.

Petrichor (ペトリコール, Petorikōru) is a minor character featured in the fifth part of the Jojo's Bizarre Adventure series, Vento Aureo, appearing only once in the "White Album" arc.

Following the death of most members of La Squadra Esecuzioni, Petrichor urges Ghiaccio against following Team Bucciarati to Venice in pursuit of the OA-DISC.

APPEARANCE

Petrichor is a woman of above-average height and an athletic built. Petrichor carries herself in a very straight, graceful manner, head held high. She believes that confidence is everything in her field- she strives to look the part.

She has fair skin, just slightly tanned. Because she is so fair-skinned, she either burns or is dotted with freckles when she spends enough time in the sun. Her hands are rough and callused, contrasting her soft, religiously moisturized skin. The half of her face covered with hair is marred with slow-fading burn scars.

Her dark hair is fairly long and kept in a loose braid. She has dark, storm-green almond-shaped eyes. She wears a long-sleeved lime green crop top, decorated under the collar with orange, freehand embroidery. The collar and ribline of the top are studded. She seldom removes her custom-made leather gloves. She wears high stilettos or combat boots and gold, dangling diamond-shaped earrings.

PERSONALITY

Cold and standoffish, she is often perceived as loathsome and scheming. With the mind of a conspiracy theorist, she is quick to connect dots that others might not think would be linked.

Though her choice of career is questionable, she does have a set of unspoken moral rules that she follows very meticulously.

ABILITIES

How to Draw

How to Draw (HTD) is a stand that takes form in natural phenomena. In other words, it has the potential to create storms from emotions. Upon skin-to-skin contact with any person, it can withdraw the innermost feelings of said person. From there, How to Draw manifests a unique type of phenomenon.

Although skin-to-skin contact is not always necessary, indirect use of How to Draw has a different effect. The intensity of the emotion affects the size, not the strength. For example, soft crying might only create a small shower of rain above the emoting, but this "rain" will likely translate to acid or something far more destructive. In contrast, fierce anger or rage will be drawn into a massive hurricane, although it will cause minimal damage. Looks are deceiving, the storm is all bark, no bite.

HTD is a difficult stand to control, but it is effective and dangerous when the user knows how properly to make use of its ability.

HISTORY

Born in 1975, Petrichor was born into the Communist state of Poland. She was the only daughter of a Russian mother, and a father descending from a strongly religious Polish and German family.

Her parents were quickly branded as traitors and executed after a chain of events that would remain unsolved to Petrichor. She evacuated the country alone, at the age of twelve, smuggling herself onto a ship in 1987. Eager to be out of the country, she found herself aboard a direct shipment to Norway. Of course, the transport was dangerous and illegal to begin with.

When discovered, it was revealed that she had been one of three children to stow away on the ship. Fritz was the oldest of the three, a seventeen-year-old, strikingly German boy. He led the younger two, Petrichor and Erik, teaching them the ways of the sea, tending to the sails and sorts, and showing them how to use the stars as a guide. Petrichor served as a translator between the two, knowing both German and Russian and her mother tongue. She built strong bonds, clinging to the both of them as they landed port in what they'd been told was Norway. Once off the ship, they quickly realized that the crew had dropped them all off in Sweden. It wasn't such a bad thing, according to Fritz. The Swedish were neutral, after all. However, Communist allies still resided in the country, paying the captain of the ship, apparently a popular drop-off for runaways. Fritz caught on to this and urged Erik and Petrichor to make a run for it.

The loss of Fritz was difficult, but the two managed to get through it together. Not having the time to mourn, they ran to the nearest port they could find, promptly slipping aboard a ride to Italy. They finally arrived in Tuscany and found a living there.

Once their funds were relatively stable, the two of them began to branch off, found individual talents that would later prove beneficial, crucial to their new lifestyle. Once they improved on their own skills, they began to enter in local competitions. Petrichor took a liking to swim, and gymnastics. Whereas Erik steered toward figure skating. After some time, Erik coaxed her into becoming his skate partner; their partnership rocketed their success in the industry until Erik was killed in '95.

She worked briefly in a body shop but quickly changed career paths after an incident that led to her most prominent scars. After becoming an independent assassin through a short apprenticeship, she settled into this occupation long-term.

RELATIONSHIPS

PASSIONE & LA SQUADRA DI ESECUZIONE

  Ghiaccio

Petrichor and Ghiaccio met by accident, having been assigned jobs in the same relative location. The two are prone to heated arguments, though none damage their companionship; they are close and value the other's opinions and concerns. They bond over a mutual interest in ice skating and athleticism. Although Petrichor never voiced it to him, it is clear she is romantically inclined toward him. His death was devastatingly eye-opening; she resolves to voice her thoughts just as loudly and explicitly as he once had.

Mario Zucchero

Petrichor and Zucchero met at Address Unknown and became fast friends. She provided him and Sale sanctuary at her apartment following the Soft Machine arc.
After La Squadra's eradication by Team Bucciarati, Petrichor confessed to harboring feelings for him in her grief and regret two months after the events. This relationship did not last, as Zucchero is killed only six months later. His death reverses the effect that Ghiaccio's had on her.

IMG_4571.jpg?ex=6632606d&is=661feb6d&hm=100

Illuso

Although not as close with Illuso as she is with Ghiaccio, Petrichor enjoys his company. She confides in private thoughts with him despite her better judgment. Remarkably, Illuso keeps her secrets. She envies his stand ability, finding it the most interesting out of his teammates. Because Illuso is also very close with her friend Pesca, the two see each other quite often.

IMG_4574.jpg?ex=6632606d&is=661feb6d&hm=100

Pesci

Because her occupation prevents her from adopting children, Petrichor tended to baby Pesci, much to his and Proscuitto's dismay. But poor Pesci wasn't very good at telling her that directly. When she realizes this via How to Draw, she stops acting this way and simply treats him as another friend. They aren't particularly close, but she doesn't mind being around him when they do see each other.

IMG_4569.jpg?ex=6632606d&is=661feb6d&hm=100

Melone

Petrichor and Melone see each other fairly often, due to his and Ghiaccio's frequent partnership on jobs. They hold mutually neutral feelings toward one another, though they do have an on-going joking "flirtation" going on that annoys almost everyone else in the squad.

IMG_4570.jpg?ex=6632606d&is=661feb6d&hm=100

Formaggio

Petrichor rarely sees him, but doesn't particularly enjoy being around him. While he isn't her least favorite person she's ever met, she wouldn't let her ducks anywhere near him for fear of him shrinking them and putting them in jars or doll houses or something to that effect.

IMG_4573.jpg?ex=6632606d&is=661feb6d&hm=100

Proscuitto

She has very little opinion of him save for disliking the way he demeans Pesci and the knowledge of Pesca's distaste toward him.

IMG_4575.png?ex=6632606d&is=661feb6d&hm=100

Risotto Nero

She empathizes with Risotto's difficulty in being under the thumb of an apathetic employer. It is why she'd decided to be independently contracted rather than join Passione. She offers him unsolicited advice once or twice, then gets the hint that he only feels demeaned by it. Her close friend, Pesca, was married to him so she has a pleasant opinion of the man.

IMG_4576.jpg?ex=6632606d&is=661feb6d&hm=100

Giorno Giovanna

Not only did Giorno have a hand in the death of Ghiaccio, but he also orchestrated the murder of Sale and Zucchero. Needless to say, she fantasizes about vengeance every waking moment. The only thing stopping her from trying and getting killed in the process is his half-brother, her friend, Pesca.

ADDRESS UNKNOWN (MISC.)

100

Alecksander Curmier

When Petrichor was enjoying her career in figure skating, Alecksander was just opening his jazz club, Address Unknown. After becoming easy friends in their blossoming careers, he let her and Erik stay in one of the studio apartments annexed to his club. Even through all the tragedy and death, Petrichor and Alecksander's friendship never faltered. The two support each other against all odds.

100

Pesca Brando-Liccardo

These two met under tragically unfortunate circumstances, Petrichor took on a maternal role toward him until she disappeared and became a contract killer. When they inadvertently crossed paths again, it was through their mutual ties to La Squadra. Pesca had joined their ranks before Petrichor met Ghiaccio, Illuso, and Zucchero.

Following the events of Vento Aureo, the two consoled each other in their mutual grief. Until Pesca took the side of Giorno after Zucchero's death, refusing to let her enact her plans of avenging him.

100

Feng Mian "Jane" Zhang

Jane sponsored Address Unknown in the early days, though her young age made it difficult for her to be taken seriously, thus leading to a spot in Alecksander and Petrichor's friendship. There are details about Petrichor's life that only she knows, and it will remain that way.

TRIVIA

  • Petrichor owns two pet ducks named by Erik: Nie (a common loon) and Ie (a Pekin). Their names are meant to mean "No" and "Yes" in Polish, but Erik only knew "No".
  • Petrichor and Alecksander are very close, they dated briefly, but decided their relationship works best as a platonic one.
  • How to Draw's ability is constantly active. Petrichor wears gloves to prevent it from causing damage.
  • Because HTD is always active, Petrichor often becomes overwhelmed in the presence of others and feeling their emotions.
