Description: Mars is an optimistic nihilist. They believe that in the grand scheme of things, we are all but small, insignificant specks in a great, vast void- and he is perfectly fine with that. If nothing matters, then everything matters! This has given him a very laissez-faire approach on life- live and let live. Mars is extremely even-tempered, so it’s hard to annoy or anger him. He cares deeply about personal freedom and dislikes being tied down, especially to rules that they believe are arbitrary. It could be mistaken that he doesn’t care about anything at all, or always has his head in the clouds, but this is far from the truth. He believes everyone can have meaning in their existence, and is always up for lending an ear to someone trying to find theirs. Mars enjoys making conversations with others and being around a group, though also makes time for themself and the world. They are charismatic, and a little bit of a flirt. Mars has severe cleithrophobia, and generally does not enjoy being indoors for very long.

Description: A tall, lanky figure with long arms and legs. Their half-lidded eyes are a piercing blue with a gold spot of partial heterochromia in his left. Mars’ dark, straight hair is kept long, usually worn down- though he’ll put it in a ponytail now and then. His hair seems to ‘shift’, even when no wind is currently present. They have a mole underneath the left side of their mouth. His style is very maximalist, usually with lots of layers and accessories with different shades of blue and purple and gold accents. A lot of sun/moon/stars motifs.

Story
The Forsythe family is one of spellcasters. They often keep to themselves, and are known for having a deep connection to the otherworldly. Many have made pacts with things that are beyond the natural world. This gave them a somewhat mixed reputation, from the idea of them being great magicians to dangerous cultists who looked only to bring chaos.
As a child Mars specifically had a fascination with the sky, often wondering about the great cosmos that lay beyond his reach. He would crawl out of a window of their house onto the roof, and stare at the stars above him for hours. Sometimes, he would walk out into the night and disappear for long sections of time- though always came back, along with stories about what he has seen in ‘the beyond’.
The Forsythes ended up moving to Arcadia after they started to gain bad attention from the locals of their last town, leading to one of Mars’ siblings almost being killed. In Arcadia they have had a much more peaceful time, though still generally choose to shy away from the public.
Mars ended up moving out after becoming an adult, and currently stays within a van he owns. He has picked up a collection of odd jobs, though his favorite is creating and selling art. He does a mix of metal work, jewelry making, and murals.
Abilities
Float Away:
- Mars has the ability of levitation, and can make themself, inanimate objects, and well as others, float.
- This is not the same as flying- Mars cannot choose where he or another thing goes. It would be similar to being in zero gravity.
- In order to make another person or object float, Mars has to be physically touching said person or object.
Dream of Me:
- Has the ability to infiltrate other people’s dreams. Within the land of dreams, Mars is much more powerful than he is within the physical plane.
- Can both affect people’s psyches in a positive and negative manner. He could relieve somebody of nightmares, giving them clear skies… or, show somebody the darkness of a void.
- Mars can get ‘kicked’ out of said dreams, if the person who he is infiltrating has a strong mental fortitude. This is especially true if they know he is doing this.
- Mars can only do this while he is also sleeping, or in a trance. If he is woken up, he will be ripped out of the dream.
Endless Expanse:
- Within the physical realm, Mars can create visual illusions. These mostly only take the form of complete darkness, space, or the sky with no ground.
- These work especially well when paired with either of his other abilities- if he is touching you, or if he is within your dream.
- Less likely to be as effective on people with a high mental fortitude or those that know this is an illusion.
- In order to use this it requires Mars to empty his mind and concentrate, leaving him vulnerable. If he is harmed in the physical world while in the middle of making an illusion it will be disrupted.
