Everett

Everett is a strange person who seems to be full of contradictions. He encourages others to share what's troubling them, yet refuses to say anything about his life before Hawthorne. He'll cover others' shifts and take overtime without argument, but god forbid someone attempt to help him. At work, Everett is an endless fountain of energy — at home, he is devoid of it. Strangers are often met with excessive caution, occassionally outright hostility. Nevertheless friends are still made, and surprisingly quickly.

There are reasons to his actions, even if they seem nonsensical. Everett always picks the spot that lets his back face the wall so it's harder to be surprised; the seemingly scripted backstory is what's said because it's easiest to explain; the law is disregarded if it prevents his safety, or if he quite frankly finds it stupid. These carefully picked traits are what have kept him alive so far.

Yet they aren't always good for him. Everett's habit of going between extremes will burn him out. His forgetfulness may lead him to forgetting something important. Constantly being on guard have already caused others to be suspicious. His fears — fully understood by him — are a cause for concern.

At what point does the mask slip off?

Always aware of surroundings. Difficulty sleeping. Appears to be anxious around middle-aged men and blades of any kind.
