Mercer is a laid back beach bum with no mean bone in his body. He spends his days lazily floating from party to party, crowd to crowd, listening to stories and just hanging out. He's very intelligent- if easily distracted. He'd rather have a good time than work himself to death to get anywhere and realistically, he's more interested in just making friends than proving anything to anyone.
He's still capable of fantastic business saavy and he's still an expert on sailing and boats, along with trade negotiations. He'd just prefer not to use those skills unless absolutely necessary, really.
In the older days, he was a brilliant businessman who built an empire of wealth and fortune, a hardworker who was often stressed....but he's foregone that to just enjoy his 'retirement' as automated internet services have given him the ability to pass on most of the work to technology instead.
- He and his wife now run a massive internet trading empire, where he pays people to do all the work for him. He used to run a cargo ship trading company, but upgraded to automated systems with the rise of the modern era.

- As a god, he has very limited use for his wealth that he's accumulated over many centuries of trading. At first it was a goal to be wealthy and powerful- but nowadays he throws his money around lackadasically to support random small businesses and charities.
- Every day, he shows up at a new beach somewhere in the world, totally unpredictable and untrackable. He never stays at one place more than a day or two if he's really enjoying himself.
Mercer is one of (many) accidental children of the womanizing god of Artisans. He never really knew his father, but his mother was a ruthless businesswoman who shaped the young demi-god into a master craftsman and tradesman. he soon built up an empire, where an allyship with the goddess of the sailing winds gave him a boost above all other industries when it came to making money and an efficient business.
Eventually, he modernized his company and settled down with the winds as his wife, choosing to live a more low-key life on the sands enjoying his hard earned wealth and immortal days relaxing instead of working all the time.
