Dayr Hayden's Links
Dayr is best friends with her brother Ramsey. She loves him incredibly and shows this through rough housing and beer sharing. They're quite competitive and she prides herself on being able to steal the attention of the ladies Ramsey gathers when he sings. She can be harsh with him, but it's only because she expects the best from him, and wants the best for him as well. When they were young, Ramsey was bullied for his peculiar ears. Dayr defended him, mercilessly. This would sometimes cause more bullying because Ramsey was being defended by someone younger than him, but she never realised that. The last thing Dayr wants is Ramsey hurt.
Ramsey won't admit Dayr is his protector because he feels like he's HERS. In truth, they care for each other equally- their competitive nature just gets in the way. He does love getting Day in trouble with their mom frequently though. Since he usually enjoys getting his chores done to feel accomplished, it's easy to throw Dayr under the bus when she doesn't do hers. Though, If he's feeling especially sweet he'll just do her chores for her. This doesn't go unnoticed and Day will always repay him with something to eat or drink most likely. They love teasing each other and are pretty good about not taking things too far into actual fights. When they do argue, it's loud. Spats usually end with Ramsey leaving Dayr alone to cool off, she's the spicier of the two.
Alec is the only person Dayr is as close to as she is with her brother, in fact, Alec is practically her brother too! She'd defend his smelly self from anyone who dares to insult him. She loves being around him and being able to laugh freely at each others "wit" (that others may call idiocy). Dayr is one to shield everyone from any soft side of her, but is known to let Alec how much she cares for his friendship with the help of certain uplifting beverages.
Alec feels tender little sibling love for Dayr. She is an essential drinking buddy for him, since they both share their love of good alcohol and pretty people. He wouldn't think of dancing on a table with anyone else. He relies on her strength more than he lets on, and really admires her spirit. 10/10 would pair up with in a fight. Strong platonic friendship.
At first Dayr finds herself feeling annoyed by how quiet Arthur can be. She's the type to go hard rather than go home, and is frustrated by Arthur's balancing act of being in between the two. Later after their initial meeting, Artie warms up to her and the rest of the motley crew, then finally opens up. Once Dayr sees he does have energy and emotions she cares for him immensely. Being a younger sibling herself, she feels as though Artie could be something like that for her. She would defend him against any strangers who believe he's not worth much- perhaps because she feels guilty for judging him so harshly initially.
When Arthur and Ramsey find themselves in a sort of relationship, they don't tell anyone. They thought they were being secretive but Dayr caught on in no time. She was happy for them but worried as well, she didn't want either of them hurt if it didn't work out. When it doesn't work out, Dayr panics and thinks her friends are going to split up completely since Arthur and Ramsey act real awkward with each other for quite a while. Her fears aren't realised though, and everyone stays friends with minimal uncomfortableness!
Arthur is very intimidated by Dayr at first. Her personality jumps head first into the water, while his wades in deliberately and carefully. He can sense that she isn't his biggest fan and this makes him even more nervous at the beginning. Yet like he does with all people, he takes down his protective barriers one by one as time goes on and eventually he's free to be himself. Once Arthur's comfortable, he can see Dayr has warmed up to him too. He admires how strong and proud she is no matter who she's around. He feels safe around her and finds himself confiding in her even though she has trouble being the most empathetic person. She's still a great hugger.
