Background: at a young age, around 7 or 8, Kisshoten was kidnapped by an extremely religious cult leader. The name of this cult is The Unnamed Order. Kisshoten was raised by "Mother" to be the next leader of The Unnamed Order. Because of this, they were favored by Mother. She treated Kisshoten as her child and the two were together most of the time.

Kisshoten grew up around lots of death and blood and gore, sacrificing animals (behind the scenes Mother would sacrifice other cult members.) They also participated in group activities and rituals. This included chanting, singing, and other repetitive activities that created a trance-like state among members.

Initially, Kisshoten, wasn't aware of Mother killing other cult followers. But they as time went by, they slowly and quietly put the pieces together. However, after years of manipulation and grooming, they never confronted mother about it.

Around age 13, Kisshoten befriended a young girl named Sophie who was also raised in the cult and the two were very close for years. Kisshoten told Sophie how they were taken from their real family at a young age and Sophie urged them to leave the cult. Encouraged by their friend, Kisshoten attempted to run away. They would be punished greatly for this. They were found by the members of the cult and, as per Mother's orders, Kisshoten was tortured. When they returned to the cult, Sophie was gone and no one ever spoke of her again.

Eventually, when Kisshoten turned 17, mother became fatally ill and was told that they would take her place as the leader very soon. But before their Mother was to die, they were instructed to do one thing. Mother told them to sacrifice her before she died from her illness. Unfortunately, they were manipulated and pressured into complying; they thought they had no other choice.

And as this was happening, it just so turns out that the cult was found by the authorities and was immediately disbanded. Kisshoten was found over their mother's lifeless body.

Post-cult life:

Kisshoten was faced with many lasting affects from being in the cult

  • Identity confusion
  • Panic and anxiety attacks
  • Decision-making dependency
  • Sleep disorders/nightmares
  • Delusions and paranoia
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
Kisshoten was admitted into various mental heath hospitals. They regularly attended therapy and psychiatrist appointments. They also met with psychologists that would study Kisshoten. All this to try to undo all of Mother's damaging teachings. The only issue was that Kisshoten would rarely talk to these professionals, only giving vague, strange, and concerning answers to their questions. It's hard to tell if Kisshoten absorbed any of their counseling or advise.

Kisshoten was given the opportunity to meet their real parents. After all these years they were still looking for their child. However, Kisshoten adamantly refused to see them. They were too scared to know what their parents would think of them, of what they had become, and of what they had done. At the time, they had just turned 18, so no one could force Kisshoten to meet with them. Kisshoten never met their real parents again (they would both die during The Tragedy).

After turning 18, Kisshoten was contacted by Hope's Peak Academy. They had shown interest in Kisshoten's unique background, wanting to study and analyze and enroll Kisshoten as the Ultimate Cult Leader. Initially, Kisshoten didn't like the idea. However, they soon realized they had nowhere else to go. So somewhat reluctantly, they accepted Hope's Peak's offer.

Hopes Peak Academy life:

While attending Hope's Peak, Kisshoten mostly kept to themselves, and because of this, their peers and classmates were somewhat put off by them. Not only that, but Kisshoten also wouldn't tell others what their talent was. Even so, rumors managed to make their way throughout the school and it wasn't long before many people knew about their title as the Ultimate Cult Leader.

This made people even more wary of Kisshoten. Most people avoided them, making them even more of an outcast. However, there were a couple classmates that extended a hand to Kisshoten, showing them kindness. Kisshoten slowly (and hesitantly) made a few friends.
