Soleil Light

I have to do something. People are suffering - dying - and I just wile my days away in my library...

Soleil Light was born to lead a very charmed life.

The son of humanity's savior and his beloved First Guardian, Soleil is the prince of Neo Arcadia in everything but name. Often called the light of the palace, as of late he's been rather... melancholy. And has taken to holing up in his room, rarely leaving and even then, only to try speaking to his often busy siblings. Despite this, Soleil has put on a veneer of cheer that seems to fool most people at his rare public appearances, with the photo album he carries always nearby or in hand. 

It's strange. Wasn't this album father's? It has his handwriting, so why didn't he recognize it...?

But the reality of the matter is that Soleil is, in fact, very observant. He knows the role he's been given - a prince to protect - and knows its constraints and expectations. He knows fully and completely well that Master X - his father - only expects him to be a son being doted upon, a son who looks so much like the precious man who died for X's sake. It all adds up, of course, but Soleil isn't stupid. Willing to take risks, yes, but not stupid. 

And it would take someone truly stupid not to notice the cracks in Neo Arcadia's armor, its "justice". The real meaning of the word "Maverick" long gone, Soleil knows the score.

The father he once admired and wanted to be like was no longer the same hero that looked for justice for everyone: reploid or human.

Master X was a tyrant. And what did you do with a tyrant? Depose them.

Pa, what would you make of all this? Wouldn't you be mad? Wouldn't you be tellin' me t' follow m' heart? Would you tell me to run an' don't look back?

But to depose Master X would mean fighting his family. It would mean going against his father, his siblings -- all of whom saw nothing wrong with their father's actions. And when all Soleil wanted was to be their little brother, be their family... it couldn't help but paralyze him.

So day by day, he looks at an album full of people he barely remembers, memorizes the faces of his Pa, his father, the blond Reploid they fought beside-- when the missing is too much, he looks and creates a little world in his head where those days went on forever, an elysium age.

And when the pain isn't coursing through him so steady?

He's transmitting messages to Ciel, passing word of Guardian movements, and doing his duty as the "prince" of Neo Arcadia: protecting their people.

No clemency for this evil of mine.
