RE:MI has mysterious origins, having been taken in by a counselor center and is currently used as an assistant for experimental therapy. They came with encrypted data deep in their banks, which their co-workers and loved ones are interested in decrypting. She has low-power RAM, meaning she's incapable of too much multitasking, heats up easily, and may forget things. He doesn't need to breathe and cannot eat, but he does have an artificial sense of taste and enjoys drinking liquids.
Uniquely, RE:MI has very powerful programming for expressing emotions and harboring empathy. This has proven to be helpful when working with her therapy clients. She also has a directive to create something daily, so the workshop that she considers her living space is littered with drawings, papercraft, and figures.
RE:MI has modular body parts to alter their body for whatever is convenient. They also don't mind wearing clothes of any kind, as long as it can fit comfortably on their body.
