Synopsis
A small and skittish cat, Lyric Smith isn't the type that you'd expect too much from. If anything, they actually tend to go unnoticed quite often, something that really isn't helped by the fact that they're never quite heard, as they don't speak. However, they can be heard in other ways, being able to play the piano ever since they were a child, as well as learning the trumpet, which they play as a part of the school's band. Once they get past the nerves and relax enough to just zone in on what they're doing, they're actually quite impressive for their skill level, seeming to have a bit of a natural musical talent. They can typically be seen taking advantage of their size to dart under, around, and out of the way, rather than risk an awkward dance of 'which way will the person walking towards me go' or, even the chance of getting stepped on by someone bigger than them.
History
They've been playing piano ever since they were a kid, and they were lucky enough that when their parents threw them into lessons they seemed to take to it almost like it was natural to them. When the time came that they could join their school band, they decided on the trumpet since they had to pick something else, and while they've taken it on fairly quickly, there is still a bit of squeaking and such here and there. The realization of their gender identity was likely something fairly recent, but they feel pretty okay with where they are in that journey. Just... maybe let's not think too hard about the rest of their identity, yeah?
Personality
As they don't talk, it can be a bit hard to get a proper understanding of Lyric at first. They generally come off as very much a lone wolf in a way, preferring to avoid any chance of conversation as they'll likely have moved right out of your way before you can even think to say something. They're definitely shy, and something about them seems like they're always on just a little bit on edge. But, when they get into the music, eyes closed and just focused on playing? They've totally calmed down, seeming perfectly at peace.
Truly, they are quite the sweetheart, and very, very curious, likely to be asking a million and one questions if you can get them to come out of their shell. Of course, this will be done through sign, which they're fluent in, or they can also use an app on their phone or just the notes app, something they have plenty of experience with as finding someone else who can sign is pretty uncommon. They're especially interested in music, music theory, history, everything about their intruments, how they work and how to take them apart and put them together and fix them, all of it! If you're passionate about band and know much about how intruments work and how to fix them, they may just be about to fall in love, and if they actually had the confidence to approach someone, let alone someone that impressive, they'd suddenly have a ton of things that just so happen to need fixing on their trumpet.
Appearance
Lyric, overall, isn't anything too special. They're definitely on the small side, even when compared to most other cats around their age, with a narrow, lithe build, and their fur is mainly shades of brown. Their main colouring is a medium brown, with lighter brown markings on their cheek fur, eyebrows, shoulders, hands, legs, and a bit on their tail. They also have darker brown markings on their ears, near their eyes, and on their fingers, legs, and tail tip. Their paw pads, nose, tongue, ear insides, and other skin details like those are all light pink. One thing that stands out about their is their eyes, a bright blue in contrast to their otherwise overall brownish colour scheme. Typically, they'll be wearing black or dark clothing, often a hoodie or sweater with plain black jeans and, if neccessary, black runners or combat boots as well. Usually, they'll have a simple necklace.
