Twilight Realm

The World

The twilight realm is a place where both the dreams and nightmares of children exist together. Starlumians, Gaelderins and Dreamii's. One of light, one of shadow and one neutral. The Starlumians protect the children of the other world, because without the childrens dreams, they would be no more. The Gaelderins, or one in particular rather, seek this power to cultivate and grow their species to attain power, and the Dreamii's are the 'animals' of the world, with no real purpose aside from their instincts.

I'd say their world is earth shaped, with all sorts of vast lands and environments that thrived off the children's ideals. The sky is of course, in constant twilight with a full moon always hovering overhead. But surrounding their planet, is the fog of forgotten lands, and beyond that, the pure dreams of children, in bubbles. Sometimes shards of their dreams, remnants, fall to the land of twilight.

History

The dream world was created, when the first dream was had. The world was a vast space of pure fog, endless in a sense. As a shard of pure imagination from the first dream, escaped and consumed the fog of the dream dimension, it created the first ever planet for their dimension.

Malana was created from a pure star of light, they were also the first being to live in the Twilight Realm with coherent thoughts. Through their time spent, they became a god of the world, and helped take care of it, and create a better life for others to be made into other beings with coherent thought. However they once attempted to create life as well, and made Starlight and Starnight, who then brought life to the Starlumian species.

Ziahos, was the first nightmare to of ever existed with coherent thought. They were previously a Starlumian, but became infected by a dark shard of pure nightmare. At first they lived as a beast, but over time began to grow thoughts and feelings, and eventually became the being they are today. They yearned for a greater purpose after finding Malana, as during their time together they became aware of the power of stars, and later on consumed a pure star of shade, becoming a god of shade. He then created the Gaelderins, a species in their own image, as they were jealous of Malana, and sought to consume the remainder of the Twilight Realm for their own selfish desires.

Later on a war broke. The Starlumians weren't ones of violence and attempted to flee, but the god of shade wanted their essence for themselves. This caused their species number as a whole to drop significantly. Malana saw what Ziahos was doing, and acted upon such, using their magic they fought back Ziahos and due to their drastic differences in magic, both were repelled for the farther corners of their world.

With a silent agreement, both stayed in these parts of the world, and succumbed to a deep slumber from their efforts of the war having drained them. As it stands now, Malana became the moon, to keep Ziahos from touching upon their land once more. And Ziahos became apart of the shadows, and spread their shade as far as they could to cover their lands, where it is nothing but pure darkness.

Starlumians are few in numbers these days, due to Starnight and Starlight having returned to the skies to aid with Malana's protection.

The Gaelderins still plague the land where-ever Malana's light does not touch, and hunt for whatever essence they can attain.
