Timewinder

Oh no no no, don't you even think about it! I'm the ONLY thing keeping yoooouuu alive in this place, take care to remember that.

Keeper of order through proper temporal flow, Timewinder can bend, stop, and overall manipulate time at her will. She is responsible for keeping the continuum on Earth working as it should, and any other world when deemed necessary. She never makes a formal appearance, and virtually no humans know about her existence, until recently when groups of people started disappearing without a trace.

Habits

  • Uses the antennae on top of her head to fly around, also called "helicoptering"
  • Turns her cape around and uses it like a sack to assist when carrying a lot of items
  • Does more of a 'waddle' than a walk when travelling on ground. In appearance, running looks less clumsy.

Build

Timewinder's build is a curious thing. What she is made out of is unknown, but the materials that have the closest resemblance to her appearance are porcelain around the facial area and wood for the rest of their body. Her cape and the other cloth around her shoulder and thorax area are confirmed to actually be cloth, but the material is debatable, as no one has gotten close enough for long enough to be able to examine it definitively.

Trivia

  • She is entirely hollow.
  • She was one of the first of the four deities formed, simultaneously with Dialmsater
  • Her pupils turn to ovals rather than an asterisk shape when trying to appear friendlier.
  • Originally, they were created exclusively for a roleplay, but has since been repurposed for an original storyline.
  • Helicoptering is her preferred method of travel, thanks to it being faster, more convenient, and she can have fun with it.

Story
THE BEGINNING.

Why do you think I like to mess with him? That's my only source of entertainment!

In the beginning, Timewinder had one job and one job only, to keep the flow of time running properly. It was a simple job, easy to manage, "underwhelming" as she would put it. Once Timewinder got everything set up for a world, she would never need to touch it again unless it somehow got out of whack. In fact, her not actually doing anything after their work was originally requested was ideal for ensuring that nothing went wrong.

This is how their job continued for a while, be summoned once every couple millennia, make sure everything was temporally sound for a world, and go back to doing nothing. Unsurprisingly, Timewinder grew increasingly bored, and started seeking out the other deities to for stimulation instead. She did not mess with Dialmaster, as she was curious about his job and wanted to learn more, and he ended up not minding their company. The Overseer had no interest in any sort of companionship and pushed her away at every opportunity, they were colleagues, they didn't need to be friends. She had the most fun with the Conductor though, as his high levels of patience made him the subject of her constant teasing. There were times that he would indulge and they would share the banter, and eventually established a sort of friendship. Though there weren't many other individuals to help keep them entertained, this did ease Timewinder's otherwise bored disposition.

THE END?

You're joking. Billions of their lives, all erased because you got BORED.

The cyclic monotony of the deities' usual tasks and downtime was interrupted when Overseer, the Watcher Deity, announced that he would be stepping down from his current position. Given two worlds to supervise by the hand of Dialmaster, he expressed his disinterest to continue under this role, opting instead to return to his original position of watching over and keeping the other deities in check. This raised an alarm for the other deities and accumulated a lot of opposition from them, urging him to reconsider, but Overseer was firm in his choice. What they were not opposed to was the desire to return to his original job in and of itself, but rather, what this decision implied for the worlds he was assigned to observe.

A world cannot survive without a deity to claim responsibility over it, and to abandon one is a promise to send it and everything inhabiting it to certain death. Worlds are frequently made and destroyed, but those are mostly subjects of creationist testing. With the amount of development and evolution that both of Overseer's had made, this decision could be considered a crisis.

PRESERVING WHAT REMAINS.

While those worlds rot away, it's our responsibility to salvage what we can of their ruin.

In light of this outcome, two of the deities who were more opposed to this resolution, Timewinder and Dialmaster, hatched their own plan to counteract his. Dialmaster, a creationist who specialized in world-building, created an environmental replica of both the affected worlds that they could be safely transported to. They placed the planet in Timewinder's domain so that she could use their limited creationist abilities to construct homes and facilities for the residents as needed. Timewinder was more involved with the residents as they arrived and stayed, while Dialmaster continued his work in the background.

Starting in 2031, both of the deities would use their portals to either lure people into them or follow a more direct approach of taking them. Once attained, these people would be placed into districts of about 20-30 people. These districts would be about as big as an average street block, be used for addressing, and would take a month to two months to steadily collect everyone that inhabited them. This process was continuously repeated in order to get people in the most efficient way possible without sending either world into a panic over the amount of disappeared. They accepted from the beginning that not everyone could be saved, but they vowed to rescue as many people as they can in the time they have.

Portal Creation

Ability
difficulty
mastery

Portals have three purposes: Transportation, summoning, and banishment. Each and every deity is capable of making portals, with some using it and it's different functions more than others. Timewinder, not being a fan of the latter two, uses them almost exclusively for travel. Her portals are primarily orange, with spiral-like trails of yellow swirling inside. When not directed with their key, Timewinder's portals will lead to a random location.

Regeneration

Perk
difficulty
mastery

Regeneration is a perk that Timewinder has as a deity, but it is not something that they have any control over. Regeneration is an automatic, but timely process, and even a small fracture can take an entire night to recover from. If a part is completely broken, then it will appear as a slightly different color once regenerated, only appearing normal again with more time. This is also one of the only aspects of time that she cannot control, as she cannot speed up the recovery process manually.

Creation

Limited Ability
difficulty
mastery

Every deity has selective perks and abilities that come with their job, and for Timewinder, creation is not one of them. In the overworld or any other location that she does not oversee, Timewinder cannot create any kind of layout or structure because she is not meant to. The only place she can do this is in her domain, where she has complete control and can do as she desires. One other exception is if they are assigned to oversee a world, where more elements of control are necessary and must be permitted. However, because this ability is limited, it is much more difficult to create any hypothetical structure type that she has not previously witnessed.

Necessity

Timewinder is fully capable of opening and closing dimensional portals on her own, but the key she wears like a necklace helps them direct their travel, crucial for needing to move between two specific locations.

Way of fighting

Timewinder, being small and somewhat fragile in certain areas (such as her face), prefers not to get into physical fighting. They are also opposed to summoning other entities to do their dirty work for them, so instead she opts to use her time-oriented abilities to neutralize the enemy.

Her most powerful and morbid method of combat using her powers is her ability to completely terminate an enemy by freezing time for that individual alone, but letting the flow of the world around them to continue as normal. It is an instant death, shutting down all of the person's organs in a moment, but it also effectively turns them into a statue. Only to be used as a punishment or last resort.
