Profile
Born into a noble family, Fidjaet had expected his life to follow that of his parents, and their parents before them, and so on and so forth. He would be wed, he would rear children, and someday he would die in some great battle protecting his family. The day before his wedding to a bride he hardly knew the name of, Fidjaet was stolen by the Nautiloid.
In the span of a day, Fidjaet's entire world is thrown right out of order - he's hundreds of miles away from home, with a load of strange, fleshy strangers, and there's a worm in his brain. He spends the start of their journey together trying to find a way home - believing his family must know a solution to their worm problem, because his family knows everything - but, after fighting alongside his companions and saving the Grove, Fidjaet realises the world is so much wider than just his noble life, and he quickly grows a taste for the whole 'heroism' thing.
It's when he fails to save the Shadowcursed Lands in a similar fashion does Fidjaet resort to the tadpoles, wanting to carry the burden of infecting his mind further so that his new companions didn't have to, and feeling that it's the only way to keep everyone safe when the threat they're facing is so dangerous. Near the end of his journey, Fidjaet is more illithid than he is himself, only just able to pull through and free himself of the tadpoles - as well as saving Baldur's Gate - thanks to the companions he'd dismissed so quickly at the start of his journey.
Fidjaet began his journey narrow-minded and reserved, his confusion towards his new situation turned into a snappy standoffishness. After he gets closer to his companions, though, he becomes jovial and affectionate, although once he's made a decision it's hard to get him to consider a different approach.
Despite his noble upbringing, Fidjaet is the complete opposite of a picky eater. He quite happily devoured whatever was managed to get cooked up from the scraps the party had foraged on their journey.
He knows just enough Draconic to hold a conversation, having been taught it as a child. He mainly just remembers the swear words, though.
Putting his body through that much illithid power left him weakened after his adventure was over, and he's still rather scared to use magic in his everyday life. His staff is mostly just used to get around instead of casting spells nowadays.
fire
jewelry & shiny things
most fruits
raw meat & fish
broken promises
cold weather
made fidjaet realise a lot about himself, but it's hard to have a slowburn when you have to save the world. he doesn't mind growing old if it gets to be with gale.
adventuring best friends that grew apart after the journey was over, fidjaet often wonders if he should've taken karlach's place as an illithid. before that, it was karlach who brought out fidjaet's true colours at the start of their journey, a bond forged in blood and fire.
although originally getting along, fidjaet - in his rage over not saving the shadowlands - lashed out at halsin for not helping more, and the two went their seperate ways with contempt towards the other. their relationship is still tense, but simmered down after the netherbrain was defeated.
