Kaori Hanamoto (花本 香織 Hanamoto Kaori) is a 2nd year student at U.A. Academy studying to become a hero. She is a very sweet girl who falls in and out of love easily. She is most attracted to ambitious people who are working towards their goal, which unfortunately for her is almost everyone around her. She is fickle and changes her mind a lot. Despite this, she is a kind, caring person who tries to make friends with everyone. She actively tries to befriend shy people and will always stand up her friends. She is also surprisingly perceptive of others.
Apperance
Kaori is a short girl with tan skin and freckles. She has light violet eyes. Her hair is silvery white in color, and it is tied into a bun on the left side. Her bun is always surrounded by a wreath of flowers. She is most often seen in her UA school uniform. Her hero outfit in inspired by magical girls from anime she watched as a child. It consists of a green top, a light pink skirt, and a sparkly bow tied around her waist. She also sports green thigh high boots and green gloves with an opening in the palm so she can use her quirk.

Personality
Kaori is an outgoing and kind girl. She tries to befriend everyone she meets, especially people who seem shy. She is not the most reliable person; she is forgetful and always seems to change her mind. However, she tries her best to be a good friend despite this. She is a very caring person who loves all living creatures, even tiny insects. She has trouble committing to her goals, so she admires ambitous people a lot. She gets crushes very easily, but she also gets over them very easily as well.
Quirk
Bloom: Allows her to grow flowers anywhere on her body. If she is familiar with a flowering plant and its makeup, she can grow it and amplify its strength and abilities. She can also manipulate plant defenses (poison, thorns, etc) and create hybrid flowers that are more useful for fighting. She can attack with flowering vines, flower petals, and pollen with a variety of effects (poison/dizziness/etc). She can also grow flowers to patch up her wounds and allow her to fight longer, though the effect is only temporary. Her quirk is more powerful in the sunlight.

History
Childhood
Kaori was born in Kyoto, Japan to pro-hero Chika Hanamoto and her husband, Mikio Hanamoto. She had a pretty normal life growing up. Kaori is an only child and was doted on by her parents. Her mother was a famous hero, Titania, who could control plants, and her father ran a flower shop. His ability is Green Thumb, which allows him to perfectly raise any plant, and if he feeds a plant blood from one of his thumbs, it will grow instantly. When she was 10 years old, her mother was killed by a villain. She was absolutely devastated, but it was the catalyst for her deciding to become a pro-hero herself. She always idolized her and decided to become a hero just like her, but she struggles with living up to her mother's greatness.
Synopsis
School Life
In her class 2-B, Kaori is one of the weakest students. Her quirk is not the most effective in combat, and she has trouble honing her abilities because of her lack of ambition. Academically, she struggles as well because of her inability to pay attention for long periods of time. Despite this, she is not jealous of her more able classmates. She serves as a cheerleader for her other classmates and is always encouraging them to do their best. She is very popular in school because of her sweet, outgoing personality. She is friends with both underclassmen and overclassmen.
Encounter with Belladonna
While on her way home from school, Kaori notices something strange afoot. She goes to investigate further and she finds a villain, Black Swan, right in the middle of a crime. Having already obtained her provisional hero license, she springs into action and attempts to apprehend the villain. The two fight, and, though Black Swan is stronger than Kaori, she manages to knock off the villain's mask, revealing the pretty face of a young girl around the same age as Kaori. Kaori is stunned by her beauty, and Black Swan takes her mask back and escapes.
Later, Kaori happens to see the same girl again. This time, the villain is in her school uniform leaving her school. Black Swan notices Kaori, and pulls her into an alley. She threatens to kill her if she reveals her idenity to anyone. Kaori promises she won't because she can tell she is a good person. Belladonna is confused, and asks why she would think that. Kaori states that if Belladonna was a real villain, she would've killed her right after she saw her face. Belladonna laughs and says Kaori is weird. Kaori, in turn, makes Belladonna promise she will hang out with her so she can assess if she is really a good person like she suspects. Belladonna relunctantly agrees, and the two form an odd friendship.
Kidnapping
As Belladonna and Kaori grow closer, Belladonna's mother, Sayomi Kuromiya, finds out about their relationship. She threatens that she'll harm Kaori if Belladonna keeps seeing her, but Kaori reassures Belladonna that she can take care of herself.
Kaori is subsequently kidnapped by Sayomi and brainwashed by her quirk, Suggestion, to do whatever Sayomi says. Belladonna confronts her mother to save Kaori from her clutches. Sayomi says that it's too late and that Kaori is completely under her control. To prove this, she gouges out Kaori's left eye, to which Kaori shows no reaction. Then, Sayomi commands Kaori to attack Belladonna. A fight ensues, though Belladonna refuses to do anything but defend herself. During the fight, Kaori is crying but unable to stop her body from attacking Belladonna. Finally, when Belladonna no longer defends herself and Kaori is about to finish her off, she is able to break free.
After seeing Kaori is back to normal, Belladonna sees red and is ready to kill her mother. Kaori begs her not to and instead the two go to the hospital to treat their wounds.

Chika Hanamoto
Chika Hanamoto is Kaori's deceased mother. When Chika was alive, she and Kaori were close. However, Chika was not home a lot because of her occupation as a pro-hero. Kaori admired her greatly as a child. She always made her mother tell her stories of her experiences fighting villains. Kaori completely idolizes her mother and though that she was the strongest hero in the world. After her mother's death, Kaori was devastated. She decided then that she would become a pro-hero just like her mother to continue her mother's legacy.
Mikio Hanamoto
Mikio Hanamoto is Kaori's father. The two are very close, especially after the death of her mother. Mikio is very supportive of his daughter. He tends to spoil her a little too much. Kaori works part-time in her father's flower shop. The two bond over their mutual love of flowers, and they create new strains of flowers together.

As soon as Kaori sees Belladonna, she instantly falls in love. She is persistent in her pursuit of a friendship with Belladonna, and eventually it blossoms into something more.
