As part of their new lives, Avarice had them either working or entertaining him in the form of arena battles with other individuals who were unfortunate enough to be in a similar situation. For a time, Valor along with their two older siblings were able to bear the brunt of the abuse from Avarice, his henchmen, and those who didn't have a choice but to fight them -- even as children. However, Valor was the first to become put out of commission as a particular brutal battle had rendered them partially deaf due to head trauma. Unwilling to disappoint the audience with an unfair fight, Avarice banned Valor from participating in further fights and instead put them to work doing menial labour where it was needed.

About ten years after the murder of their parents and the invasion on their home, Valor and her family were finally strong and confident enough to plot an escape and their retribution against Avarice. The five siblings were able to escape, and attempted to poison the Volcarona before they left. Though they believed that they had succeeded in tricking him, they were never able to confirm whether he had died or not.

Hitching a ride as stowaways on a visiting ship, the bunch ended up traveling to Ethovalon to the south of Moongate. There, they initially made their way as urchins before they found a home at a church. Since then, they have forged new paths devoid of the baggage of what transpired in their early lives. Though a few of them have joined with the Global Communications Setup Foundation, others decided to lead simpler lives merely supporting each other from outside of the guilds. Valor spent much of their time in therapy and learning to adapt to the common sign language after many years of using their own version to communicate with their family. They had an interest in music as a child, and despite their disability, they were happy to spend the time necessary to return to it.

Valor was the first to enlist with the GCSF though as a freelancer rather than as a dedicated member of any team. She preferred to go on simple, non-threatening missions either alone or in very small groups while she was getting acclimated to the way that adventuring worked. Eventually however, she was made aware that her siblings had joined up with a team and so she decided to officially join one as well.
