THEN  Blue grew up his entire childhood being fed the lie he was the biological son of his mother and father. In actuality, he wasn't even the same species as their brother--Blue was an orphan of their kingdom's sworn enemy, abandoned by their king and saved by his now adoptive father. The revelation itself wasn't what stung--it was having been lied to his entire life and that he found out by complete accident. The situation grew into something bigger, eventually leading Blue down a dark path where he was taken advantage of by a tyrant. Blue was tortured and brainwashed before being sent to Earth, where his brother and his newfound friends eventually defeated him. It took several more years before the ordeal was truly over and Blue could finally tell his brother the truth about having been mind-controlled. The complexities of the situation and their crimes led to the decision to transmutate Blue from a godly being into a simple mortal. Blue had agreed, though under the idea that he would not be long for this world afterward. But after an intervention, Blue gives medication and therapy a shot, which eventually leads him down a path of healing.

 NOW  Once a godly, snarky prince, Blue is now a small, quiet mortal living amongst his foes-turned-family. Before reconciling with the heroes that defeated him, Blue found companionship with his brother's partner (and now soon-to-be husband) and a doctor-slash-sorcerer (who totally isn't his queerplatonic partner, not at all! /s). Blue's support system grows as he makes friends with his brother's found family, and amongst them he even finds love. Blue connected with Sarge first else due to their similar histories of torture and mind control. Their relationship blossomed into something mutually romantic, which was a bit awkward at first given things were still tense with Sarge's boyfriend, Archer. Blue had met Archer when he had still been brainwashed and pulled Archer into his shitty situation, which wasn't a great first impression. Thankfully, through many long conversations, and seeing how much Sarge trusted Blue, Archer and Blue reconcile--and even end up falling in love as well. The three operate well together, even after everything they've been through, and love each other very much.

While things are better, Blue is still very much in recovery. Blue is quiet and gets stuck in their head a lot, and is also still figuring out medications and working through stuff in therapy. But for the first time in a long time, Blue doesn't dread the coming days and feels less weight on his shoulders than ever before. He is profoundly grateful for the second chance he has been given, and wouldn't trade it, or the people he's met because of it, for the world.
