I have a lot of world-building stuff for my pons and their story so I might dump things here just for storage sake.
PLEASE note not everything here is accurate to the lore of the closed species itself. Please do not use my work as a point of reference in that regard.
These are things I MYSELF made up for the sake of my world-building and stories for my pon characters.

No name for the pet yet, bad at naming things.
They're based on bunnies, fireflies, and honeypot ants.
The body is typically only consistent of very light colors or off-white.
the tips of their ears, wings, and tail are coated in a type of gem or metal for decoration and protection. This is the only part of the pet that can't change.
The tail typically consists of a more saturated mix of colors which glows with a soothing light.
These little critters are often fluttering around areas populated by pons, eager to bask off the natural magic residue the ponfolk give off.
Pons usually happily let them settle within their homes for a source of light or even for companionship. Sometimes these pon pets will shift colors when growing a close bond with a specific pon, being happy to match more with their companion.
Their bright colors come from the magic residue they gather and is stored in their little tails. even when gathering magic residue from a large selection of pons of various colors and types these little guys will still tend to only display only a certain range of colors that more suit themselves or to a pon they're deeply attached to.
Without magic residue to feed off of they grow tired easily and loose their color. they thrive being around pons and dislike to not be around them.
They're able to feed off magic residue of other creatures within the world but always naturally prefer the one from a pon's over anything else as it's what they're evolved best to absorb.
