Stubborn, tricksy and bold to the point of true foolishness, Heatherstorm was Clan Gaoitheâs dynamite gal. Not one to sit still or follow the rules, youâd often find her zooming past you on the moor shouting âEXCUSEMECOMINGTHROUGH-!â like it was a matter of life and death. But it hardly ever was. She was a good-natured cat with a big, hearty laugh and a thirst for adventure- but with a deep love and loyalty for the cats around her. Â
H I S T O R Y Born to an all-suidhe family, perhaps it was her parentsâ sedentary nature that made Heatherkit try to sneak out of camp. Perhaps it was learning mischief from overzealous daltai that made her do it again, and again. But that burst of speed she felt when she stubbornly resolved that she WOULD succeed, she WOULD get out there and see the big wide world, that was all her own. Heather was a bit of an overachiever as far as youth go, doing everything in her power to speed through her delta moons so she could finally be independent. When it finally happened, when she was free to roam as she pleased (within reason), few things could slow her down. Few things, that is, until she started talking to Miragemirror. Â
Their relationship was hasty and clumsy at first, but it was everything Heatherstorm could have ever wanted. Miragemirror was her rock and her confidante, her nest to return to at the end of the day. So when their sibling Dreameater disappeared into the fog, Heatherstorm tried her best to be there for them. She would speed through any task that kept their soon-to-grow family apart, joining Miragemirror wherever they went. But it was no use. They had to find Dreameater. So it came to be that Heatherstorm would raise their son Spiderkit on her own.Â
The horrible truth of Heatherstorm is that she was always impatient. There was no sign of Dreameater or Miragemirrorâs bodies. There was no evidence of their deaths. She told herself they were still out there somewhere. With plenty of light shining through the mist one morning, she stubbornly resolved that she, too, would venture out to look for them. She told no one of her departure, except a quiet promise to a sleeping Spiderkit that sheâd be home before he even knew it. She knew the territories, she was gifted with the power of the wind. As she stole away onto the peat bog and started to run, there was no doubt in her mind that she would easily outrun and outfox anything she came across. If she was nothing else, Heatherstorm was fast.Â
But she wasnât fast enough.
