Nad'ir was the sixth daughter of a prestigious family of ten from one of the many keepers of the moon tribes. His family had seven daughters (including her) and three sons. When Nad'ir was born, he was given the forename Nadia.

What his sisters and mothers of the tribe called a blessing, he called a curse. Nad'ir was born with physical anomalies that weren't present within his sisters before her, and his brothers after. Not even his mother or his mysterious father had it. A right eye, looked as if it was made of moonstone, glowed. Contrary to her left eye, a pink-purple reminiscent of the most beautiful flowers of Gridania. Her kin called it a 'moon eye', a blessing of Menphina, goddess of the moon, mother and guardian to all keepers.

Because of this physical ailment, Nad'ir grew up alienated from his eldest to his youngest. She had grown up with the expectations of his mother and her aunts, to become a priestess of Menphina, whos lunar light would glow through her. Nad'ir grew to despise and loathe the very same goddess who blessed her mother's womb, if only it weren't for her she wouldn't have been set up for failure! This was not a blessing, it was a curse of Menphina.

During her late adolescents, she envied her younger brothers who would go off into the night to experience the menfolk's life of the moon. To him, it was what he called freedom. To walk without expectations, to choose your trade, to dress how you wanted. On the night of his mother's 47th nameday, he came to the terrifying conclusion: she was not a woman. There was no sun radiating him, nor was there the moon's light encompassing her. He, was of different breed. He was not a man either. He was spacial, omnipresent, encased within. Labels were too confusing, from what little outsider books he had read in Gridania she felt connected to the term Genderqueer.

Out of spite, and of her newfound discovery of himself, she changed her name. Leaving the forename Nadia in the deep crevaces of the moon, he knew his mother's womb could not bear anymore children, and he would not abandon his previous gender's roots, thus he picked up the men's suffixes in name. She was the sixth daughter, therefor he is the sixth son. His name will reflect who he is: someone not even Menphina's lunar light could reach, a point so deep it was black. Thus, a new name was born: Nad'ir.

As the first point of action on taking up a new mantle, Nad'ir knew what he had to do. He was going to drop the ball entirely. He will abandon Menphina. Why should she praise someone who brought her so much pain, and no gift? No reward? She'll remove herself of the moon's crest. Nay, he will pray to someone who's more than Menphina herself, more powerful, more divine. Nad'ir's new guardian would be the fate spinner: Nymeia. The astral goddess of time. With her praises, he could overcome Menphina and destroy her.

Thus, a plan was executed. He would leave his mother's home, her tribe, her sanctity. She would live the men's life, the life her younger brother's would soon have: that of a wanderer. Abandoning her family, but not in name, she would move to Limsa Lominsa and admit herself into the scholarly colleges for the finest of the elite. Of course she could, after all she was a daughter of Khamazom, they forced her to study well to be Menphina's acolyte. But her induction would be so that she could study the teachings of Nymeia, and become a disciple.

He would become the Astrologian of Nymeia.
