Character Backstory:

Matteo (Teo) Tommaso Agretsi, born Marta Elenora Agretsi, grew up in McLean, Virginia with his mother, Bianca, his father, Thomas, and his older brother, Beniamino (Benny). His dad worked as a dentist and his mom worked with his dad as his receptionist/bookkeeper. His father’s dentistry practice was successful and allowed them to afford a large, nice home. They went to church on Sundays, volunteered in the community, and hosted dinners. While Teo was not mistreated or neglected, it seemed that his older brother Benny was always the clear favorite. Teo held a closer relationship to his mother than his other family members as the two bonded over a shared love of cooking, even considering a career as a professional chef for a time. However, he was discouraged to do so by his father and ultimately pursued the suggested path of medicine. At school he was an average student who got out very little, living within the mindset that there would be time to live life to the fullest once he fully became a doctor. He was accepted into a local residency at George Washington University Hospital where he became friends with an acquaintance from University, Sophie Young. During the third year of his residency, he was embraced by a Brujah named Ignacio de la Rosa Espinosa. He rejected his new identity and worked to preserve as much of the human life that he had worked to build for himself as possible. He managed to get himself exclusively on the night shift to maintain appearances and continue his residency. 2 months after he was turned, he was discovered by Sophie in blood storage drinking from one of the bags. Sophie, being a vampire enthusiast, was entirely too excited, but agreed to keep the secret. Matteo is concerned that she doesn’t take the situation that they're in seriously enough. Since his turning, Matteo’s relationship with his family has been particularly strained as he has refused to visit during normal holidays. He has gotten a significant amount of flack from them about it. He has continued to stall and lie to them about his schedule, but hasn’t yet addressed the problem. He maintains the most contact with his mother.

Relationships

Bianca Agretsi: Matteo’s mom. Lives in McLean with her husband. Loves to host. Extremely affectionate and sometimes overbearing.

Thomas Agretsi: Matteo’s dad. Lives in McLean with his wife. Standoffish. Insisted on Matteo pursuing medicine when he was young. Continues to push him to achieve more and more. Never seems to be fully proud of him.

Benny (Beniamino) Agretsi: Teo’s older brother by 4 years. Works as a pediatric surgeon. Has always managed to outshine Matteo’s achievements. Currently engaged. Lives in Seattle.

Sophie Young: Fellow medical resident and Med School acquaintance. Has become much closer to Teo since finding discovering that he's a vampire.
