With his family exiled from Gweonid Forest, he's spent most of his life in the poorest region of Nuia, White Arden. The tall white aspen trees were always where he considered home, despite the flow of undead breaching through the hereafter gate. Although the gate's seal was broken during the civil war, it's been abandoned ever since, much like the population. Everybody who lives in White Arden are no stranger to ghosts and monsters lurking in the dark -- in fact, they're quite a nuisance! Turns out, killing zombies takes a lot of time out of a busy schedule. The Birchkeep Guard keeps everyone safe enough during the day that life can go on, but death doesn't come off as a surprise anymore and as a result, many residents are withdrawn. This isn't the case for Ephenay. Bags have settled under his eyes as he's grown used to the groans outside his window keeping him up at night, but during the day, he lives a peaceful lifestyle tending to the farms and composing lute solos. If he's not home, he's happily serving his community. From volunteering his time as a language tutor, to helping Old Rettia with her vegetable stand, or just starting jam sessions in the town square, nothing brings him greater joy than to make others smile. He does his best to spread compassion in a town that's ridden with tragedy and cursed with undead.

If he makes others happy, he can't be sad himself.. right? Besides, that's not what Thazic would've wanted.
