Viv was an ordinary person with a lot of issues, until they were  contracted against their will to become a soldier/puppet of their  story's main antagonist, the Beldam - essentially known as the  embodiment of despair at this point in the story. Some time after being  freed by the protagonists, Viv became a magical by forming a pact with  the magical familiar, Glacier.

Viv is doing their best with very little self-confidence, but are trying  to make up for what they've done and become a better person. They come  off as fairly meek and just a bit pathetic, but they're doing a lot  better than they used to be.
