Claw
Gravescript
Profile
Claw has been haunted by a curse for his entire life. When he was young, his mother told him tales of his bestial nature and eventual decline. He understood from a young age that his ailment was unchanging, destructive, and shameful beyond measure. He was taught to hide his horns and hooves before they grew too large to conceal. He was raised as a fairly normal child, but his mother's words hung over him and made every interaction tinged with fear and anxiety. He's always felt a deep dissatisfaction with his appearance and differences from others, which shows through in the huddled over way he presents himself in front of others. Despite his efforts, his intimidating visage eventually overpowered his natural disposition, and he was cast away from his village and branded a monster. Ever since, he's hid from others and tried to restrict his movements to times when travelers aren't on the road. This comes with its own challenges though..
Claw lives off on his own, keeping his activity contained within small areas other people don't often visit. He hunts at night, under the cover of darkness. It sounds logical when you want to avoid others, but instead rumours have been spreading about a terrifying monster that peers through the midnight mist with one glowing red eye, seeking to eat weary travelers who stay out too late. These rumours have no basis, but they've brought gawking wanderers and hunters keen on claiming bounties near his home, which is stressful to Claw. He fills his days with small hobbies, like whittling and watching animals. He tries to avoid the looming threat of discovery, and in some ways, has already surrendered to his fate. In his mind, he's a monster no matter what action he takes, so it's natural that normal people should be disgusted by him and seek his death. He's come to terms with this, perhaps because he's never had anyone present him with a kinder perspective.
Claw has a bad outlook on life, and hasn't really considered his own future. There may be more to his curse than he knows, so it might be too early to give up. In the future, he'll meet many more interesting people and see more beautiful things.
